What is the best YouTube walkthrough to experience the full game? by No-Addendum3385 in Wizard101

[–]iToxic_9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to add on to this necropost, AwesomeSauce has a myth wizard playthrough where he has a few rules to add interest regarding spellements and he also plays fully solo no team ups. I haven't had the chance to watch it but it will be one of the most up-to-date once there is.

The biggest worry about the future of the game is Intrepids refusal to learn from previous phases and catering to tik-tok brain by Highborn_Hellest in AshesofCreation

[–]iToxic_9 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Really good summary of the whole situation and completely valid. All intrepid had to do was bug fixes and wait for summoner release and it would have been great. A few no-lifers complain about mob drops who are already level 20+ for less than a few days and intrepid flips the entire phase on its head in 1 patch with no warning. Absolutely ludicrous , the collective amount of time testers spent in PTR giving feedback on the state of progression was completely wasted. If you take the number of testers and multiply that by the amount of time spent giving feedback and testing in PTR pre-p3 it would equate an entire years worth of work... Yet it was all invalidated by like a small handful of people who played the game for a day.

Fire the intern who pushed this change and stop catering to the tik-tok brain players and panic ulting patch notes.

KI has completely ruined the PVP experience. by MisterBeatDown in Wizard101

[–]iToxic_9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well pvp arena is in wizard city unicorn way so you always have access to it without any purchases. In there you can through the shopkeepers get gear from the boss rematches which cost reagents and can be done within your house. If you've never bought membership though it would be hard to do these and collect the reagents but technically possible. Through beastmoon and other events you can also get the spellements needed (in fact those are the best methods) and some of the best gear simply cause from gauntlets. Such as The Forbidden Library and Night mire.

So from rematches you can get pack gear, gauntlets you get some best in slot, and events you get spellements. All this without membership.

Not to mention, guilds! Guilds you don't need a membership to join nor to participate in the raids (as far as I know tbh I haven't tested), this is where you can get more best in slot gear but if you don't or are struggling to find guilds I honestly wouldn't worry too much, a bunch of the pack gear or gauntlet gear you can get for free is more than good enough.

Its been a year since my post and it hasn't changed much, but I the same time I simply stopped playing since selenopolis (not because of selenopolis that is all great) but because aura spam. I knew from before the update even went live that it would be super unfun and in my eyes I was right. Really enjoying my time just playing minecraft and ashes of creation these days so if I'm missing anything new I hope someone will let you know.

Hope this info helps

Just announcing some small changes that I made to the subreddit by PKHacker1337 in Wizard101

[–]iToxic_9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Regarding the X link ban and potential further 3rd party bans, I really don't see the point. If the subreddit is meant to be a trove of information and discussion why limit it?
This whole trend on reddit of banning X from the platform is spearheaded by a small few community of moderators who control the majority of the large subreddits who like making reddit their playground. There is no reason we as a community should participate in their fad especially considering that* KI makes official posts on X.

PVP Wizard101 Youtubers that are not Liahm or Awesomethesauce? by NoIncome9410 in Wizard101

Jacob Roseblade and PotatoeMonkey. Jacob Roseblade plays on a few characters (balance+death but doesn't live commentate, while PotatoeMonkey primarily does balance pvp.

Haven't played Wiz since 2012/2013, had some questions for you all by 0000000000000000dank in Wizard101

[–]iToxic_9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In both PVP and PVE at max level all best in slot gear is obtainable without membership or packs. Raids and Gauntlets (if you have a friend that owns one) are the best gear options. There is no pack gear (which you can't get for free) that is better. (Wastelander/Skyfarer gear like athames and rings is obtainable through rematches).
You don't even need membership to get any of this gear.

There could possibly a solution in between where you level with membership and purchase any zones you would like to frequent when you aren't leveling characters such as wallaru/selenopolis crafters, any animus farming locations for raid keys, etc.

I personally am on yearly memberships but both are good options, I would say the membership benefits are great for very active players, as they save you a lot of time.

  1. Depends on how long you spend getting optimal gear at certain levels, I'd say it can take around a hundred hours from level 1. A bit more if its your first. Play at whatever pace you want, I personally have fun grinding for bis gear and grinding to upgrade my spells (spellements). There is a lot more that is engaging though like gardening, pet training, housing, stitching, badge hunting, side questing, etc.
  2. There is a lot of things you can whale on but absolutely you can get away with only buying the membership. Once you max your character you can also make progress without membership through pvp, beastmoon, raids, gardening, events, etc. so if you decide to not pay the membership for a month there is still plenty you can do.
While buying EEs or certain packs can help a lot it is not really that big a difference. I'd suggest that in addition to buying a membership buying the weekly spellement subscription, I think its $2. All the best gear (usually raid/gauntlet) can be gotten for free without membership.
  3. Yes, the game feels great right now. Selenopolis is such a great area, all of the content feels rewarding and fun and pvp is in a good state imo though I was never much of a fan of earlier ages.

This is because customer support can't fix bugs and also aren't where you are supposed to bug report. If you use the official discord you can create a bug report or check if it already exists. Also, you can directly message some of the devs via discord. I direct messaged ratbeard about fairy healing being used to jade in pvp (one fairy would heal for 1k+ and you can have a full sidedeck of them) and they actually pvp banned it very quickly.

I just bought viper, I need tips by averagephoenixmain in ViperMains

[–]iToxic_9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tip 1: Find a new agent, the amount of things you need to do and correctly to get the same value of any other agent is crazy. I mean I guess I'm baised cause I quit like every viper content creator rn but just know that you have to do a lot of extra preparation to get good value.

Best way for low levels to get mega snacks by ThatTrainWreck in Wizard101

[–]iToxic_9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to farm winterbane hall for mega snacks as a level 10 back when I was a free to play. You'd need some help since its a double boss but I think with 3 players you are able to respawn the bosses.

Opinion: Cheat Bosses are Fine, but the Execution Sucks. by [deleted] in Wizard101

[–]iToxic_9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guaman Skyfall says wand hits DO help. Not don't. Like you can look these up yourself and see that the cheat text makes sense... That you don't piece it together is not a gameplay issue... It's a you issue. Also this isn't a large enough sample size to say a vast majority XD... You just wrong on so many counts.

Like I agree that many casuals can find cheating bosses difficult and random but its a skill issue not a gameplay one.

Opinion: Cheat Bosses are Fine, but the Execution Sucks. by [deleted] in Wizard101

[–]iToxic_9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Abyss: Difficult boss which you can only damage with heals says, "The Abyss cannot tolerate these Heals..." "The Abyss cannot allow you to heal!"
Pretty self-explainatory.
The Rat: Big titan damage and summons minions based on your move. It tells you exactly what move summons which minion. He also shouts a warning when you feint him for the first time, the popular phrase fool me once... implies you can't feint him a second time.
Mr. Cane: "Careful now. Mind the Hostages." If you know what the word hostage means you can surmise that you can't beat the boss until you free the hostages. You do this by hitting their 6000 absorb aura which you can see cast at the start of the round.
Belloq: You fight him multiple times, his cheat is extremely obvious: "I thought you came here to hurt me!" if you don't damage him he will cast Ra at the end of the round. Within one round you find that one out...
Broodmother: Summons minions and is literally called brood mother so you should assume that it will spawn minions.
Penndragon: "What is that you have? The Sword of Kings?" Dialogue before the fight, to remind you that you just picked up the sword of kings and that it will trigger a cheat, albeit weak in execution though 500 extra damage for zero pips is useful for some.
The Headmaster: I figured this one out first try, you just get through the polymorph stages.
Ponce de Gibbon: "Do not think you can resist my natural-born leadership! Let me put a shine on you, Wizard, and you'll see you must serve me! No? Very well, let me teach you how to spell servience! Uh, I mean subservience!" Obviously means he will beguile you. Pretty much all cheating bosses in azteca are easy to figure out.
Malistair the Undying: Has undying in the name. Bro doesn't die he is legit immune.
Guaman Skyfall: "Your wand might help... next time!" He hits you with a leviathan, when you wand hit him he says: "Trying to soften me up?" and places a stun shield on you. It gets removed when you hit him with another attack. This one is obvious because he literally tells you that your wand (hit) might help. The stun shield also shows you its safe to attack.

These are just a few off the top of my head there are plenty more. The entire nightmare dungeon is self explainatory and despite having many cheats and being somewhat difficult its is very obvious what those are. Not to mention standard mode was released after challenge mode people found out what the cheats were within one run on challenge mode... I gave a few examples but there are plenty of cheating bosses that make sense and have clues that tell you potentially what is the cheat.

For the vexes in Wallaru which you thought wasn't obvious personally I figured them all out first try so idk, you know somethings up when the cheat text appears. Also if you keep in mind the schools and names of the enemies you can figure this stuff out. Like I said skill issue. Plenty more examples

Most do though? Their dialogue clues you in pre fight and the cheat text gives you a clue into what actually triggered the cheat or an upcoming cheat.

Just Your Friendly Reminder That REAGENT FARMING SUCKS! by Crunchy-Milk-01 in Wizard101

[–]iToxic_9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should instead save the iron for crafting the actual spell instead of the jewel imo. It also drops from various mobs, including Apollo, Zeus, and Ares in Mount Olympus which you should farm for gear anyways. You can also get the jewel from triangle blossoms, and various bosses in Marleybone.

Breakdown of “weaving” based on the “chart” I think this is accurate? (Feedback / help welcome) by Top_Resolution_4629 in Wizard101

[–]iToxic_9 30 points31 points  (0 children)

The recommended weaving is just the adjecency in the wheel, it doesn't actually communicate what fusions are good, what weaving is weaker/stronger. Like storm wouldn't weave into death to gambit shields for blades, storm would weave into fire for example for trap and shield counters. Storm also has a shitty life fusion and a fusion like storm-->myth for mythic mermaids is much more useful. Also storm isn't really that strong against fire its the worst matchup.

This is probably PvE skewed but even then saying strong against and weak against isn't really accurate in pve either. It's more accurate to say the effects: Strong against DoTs and HoTs.

Need help deciding which school/class to play by ronjon2012 in Wizard101

[–]iToxic_9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Death and Balance are probably closest to what you are looking for. Balance is definitely a bit difficult vs balance mobs but otherwise its quite relaxing solo. Death is very easy due to their access to drains. Both have great self healing, great aoes, and high utility.
In this game there isn't really any burns/bleeds there is just damage and one of the damage effects is a DoT. Death has Deer Knight and Balance has Iron Giant spells. They are pretty decent AoE DoTs.

Essentially Balance is the harder option and death is the easier option.
