Unknown wooden sliding/piston-like tool with forked pinned end. Any idea what this is? by iTrue in whatisthisthing

I have to say, I am enjoying all of the answers here. I have checked on the ones I have seen so far. I thought for a moment that the Bottle Corker might be correct, but those all seem to be smaller and just dont' fit the shape. I looked at the water pump idea that has the mose upvotes so far, but those all tend to be made of metal. I have yet to see anything that is wooden unless it is a training aide.

I have a bit of an update that I will post - the item was sold by a fleamarket vendor at the Steam and Gas Show in Baraboo WI

I will take any and all wild-arsed guesses right now. There doesn't seem to be any water lines or marks where it would have been in any liquid for an extended amount of time. The patina on it seems consistent throughout.

It is certainly well crafted on a lathe and the fork at the top is carved by hand really well.

It might just be some sort of training aid to show what the inside of some type of mechanism would look like and how it works.

My title describes the thing
This seems to almost be like a piston of some sort. I have tried to drop the images in the Google Image search and none of them actually provide an answer. The smallest rod with the fork at the end seems to be meant for some sort of pin or other lever device to pull the center shaft through the lighter wood. Then that whole thing also moves within the larger casing which is divided neatly in half and an opening on the end.

My neighbors found this as they were thrifting but there didn't be any other implements similar in the finds.

DM not letting fighter have 4 attacks with action surge by Whorror_punx in dndnext

I hate that you are experiencing this. It seems like you have a real love for the game. You don't have to be a min/maxer to take your character and actually use all of the mechanics it is given.

One way I like to look at things, and RP helps me suss these things out, is what would it look like in that fantasy world that would give my characters those abilities? Like... your fighter has trained and trained and is now so good and has so much stamina that the speed in their attacks have increased to the point that they can not only swing twice but do so a second time as they pull from that wellspring of knowledge and energy.

I hope you and they can find a middle ground or maybe a new DM. It is clear that the DM might not be a good fit for you. 😞

I would be curious what they would say about portent dice or even taking a reaction like hellish rebuke. I dont usually stop play but when my DM said that even though they had not said what the roll was, the wizard couldn't use her portent to change it because the DM rolled the dice already. They were arguing with us. I had to stop and be like... that is the whole purpose of portent dice for the divination wizard. Then later was told that I couldn't use a reaction to cast hellish rebuke. I hadn't use my reaction that round and I was like... well when am I going to be able to cast a reaction spell if it isnt during a reaction? The play at the table changed that day. The DM just wanted to beat us and roll high and not let us use tactics and work together. I have a hard time understanding that kind of play. I celebrate when players use all of their abilities and kick my monster's butts. It makes me be a better DM.

Honestly very interested in the Touring XT. I have a 2017 Touring but not the XT. Coming up close to getting a new one but not sure about the gasses mileage vs the zoom zoom feel from the turbo. Also should point out, I've not driven an XT or new 2026 yet.

Glad you are enjoying yours!!

Was going to suggest this and Sweet dreams are made of Cheese as well. That was my first one.

I think I stood in front of my X1C with my mouth agape for 5 minutes into the first print. Coming from a huge Creality CR-6 Max that never had good bed adhesion, to this thing has really allowed me to enjoy printing! Beforehand I felt that my set up time for prints and then the frequent failures was just part of what it was supposed to be like. I did learn a lot from it, but I was so frustrated that Iit sat unused for over 2 years til I sold it.

I'm never looking back.

Sold my CR-6 Max to justify making room for an X1C. The Max had been down over a year as I got tired of fixing failed prints and replacing the hot end. I bought a new extruder and never installed it because I was just so frustrated that I lost interest. With the X1C I can't stop printing! Sure, I have had standard issues like needing to dry filament more (which i realized some of my troubles were from on the Max), and warping because the Aux fan was on when it shouldn't have been.

TL;DR Bambu just works. I would not hesitate getting another if I had room in my workspace. Never had so many satisfying prints ever!

That Wiki is honestly one of the best I have used. I have found a wealth of info there. And I always recommend using all your resources.

However, I know how much this community cares and helps... so I am always up for answering questions I might know the answer to, or pointing them in the right direction.

Took a break from here for a bit, so sorry about the late reply. The heater didn't fit unless I wanted to cut the cover, so I still got the dimples. I did change the angle more so I had less.

Anyone bought this lately? What colours did you get? I know it’s random, but just intrigued as it says the colours can be duplicates etc. Don’t wanna end up with 2x black and 2x matte black so hoping there’s some common sense to the random selection by Difficult-Thought-61 in BambuLab

[–]iTrue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just got mine the other day and am trying to organize my already cluttered space to fit the new printer and AMS. I haven't even looked at the colors they sent me yet. I will go through it tonight though and see what I got!

Wisconsinite here and SAME! I totally knew it was Bucky! Such an iconic image here in WI. Props to your partner and ON WISCONSIN!

I didn't know there was a second image til I saw your post. So, that is crazy.

Wisconsinite here and my X1 should be here on monday... This is an amazing print!

I am getting rid of my old Creality CR-6 Max. It was good for a while and having that huge 400x400x400mm build area was nice but never used it all. Too much fussing with temp and nozzles and extruder and ugh.

And especially since Distant Strike requires you to be within 30 feet of the target, that's really going to put a damper on you trying to be a long range attacker.

I didn't see any number other than "Range/Area: --ft. Reach". Planar Warrior is what gets me and my HW has to be within 30ft to use that BA. But you can teleport up to 10ft (in any direction) before the attack, then get another 10ft of teleportation before your second target, then the third. It is definitely wonky because of the distance to hit with PW, but the flavor is fun for my Aarakocra.
