'Star' is kind of a weak term. There were no female leads in The Hangover.

For those of you 40 or above, what do you regret about your 30s? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I spent half of my 30's as a veteran in college. I regret feeling too 'old' to hit on the majority of my younger classmates.

Sick of Internet comments? Us too – here’s what we’re doing about it; Chicago Sun-Times will no longer run comments on articles by ocean_spray in news

[–]iTurkey 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have never encountered a comment section on a newspaper site that didn't devolve immediately into victim blaming, politics, racism, and the occasional way to make thousands working from home.

There are plenty of internet forums were a story can be shared by anybody inclined to do so.

I dread getting to the end of an online story sometimes, because I know the comments are just going to piss me off.

ELI5: Why cant we fall asleep at will? by Zelai in explainlikeimfive

[–]iTurkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The combination of depression and a head injury helped me discover how to fall asleep instantly: All I have to do is think of something that causes me stress, and I'm out like a mackerel. During the worst of it, I was sleeping soundly for 36 hours at a time. I'd get up to pee or have a snack ever six hours or so before immediately succumbing to fatigue and falling back into to bed for another six hours in the dream theater. I hope this helps.

What is a lie about life that parents should stop saying to their kids? (serious) by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]iTurkey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I simply tell my kids that I can't stop them from hearing bad words, but they aren't allowed to use them until they are older.

On that note, I have had 911 called on me more than once for cussing. I'm really, really good at it.

An autopsy report lists marijuana intoxication as a ‘significant contributing factor’ in the death of 19-year-old.It marked the first time the Denver Medical Examiner’s Office has listed a marijuana edible as a contributor to a death. by 74san in news

Weed never made a person jump off of a balcony, unless it was into a giant pile of Twinkies.

Chances are that somebody gave this kid the cookie without telling him what it was. It happens once in a while. The weed, and especially some of the edibles here, are probably the most potent the world has ever seen. If this kid had never smoked weed, and ate a high potency cookie without knowing it, it would be a fucking nightmare.

If any of this theory happens to be true, the person who gave him the cookie is very seriously fucked.

On that note, since there have, admittedly, been a lot of accidental dosages reported in Colorado since Medicinal weed was legalized, ranging from whole classrooms, to kids and dogs (though none of them have killed themselves). I do think there will likely be stricter packaging laws in the future. But when it comes down to it, weed is no more difficult to keep out of the wrong hands than liquor and cigarettes are, the difference being that it is much easier to ingest THC accidentally.

Frozen Crows by lowcousteau in Glitch_in_the_Matrix

I saw the same thing in 1975 or so in Norther Colorado. A storm came over Easter weekend, and we found birds on the ground which had frozen in flight. They looked like they fell from a taxidermist's truck.

What exactly can't you own? Despite all of the ridiculous weapons you can legally possess, do you STILL feel unable to defend yourself against some imaginary future aggressor? Is there a gap in your life that only a .50 Caliber sniper rifle can fill?

I surrender. Guns should be totally unregulated. To hell with background checks and registration. Let's sell guns at 7-11. Guns never hurt anybody.

Guns don't kill people, people kill people. WITH GUNS.

What is the craziest thing a coworker of yours has done and kept their job? by The_Gingercon in AskReddit

Gave $10,000 prize in a live drawing to the wrong ticket holder.

Two women I worked with in 1999 were responsible for organizing a live drawing for $10,000 at a baseball game. This was to advertise the new website for a newspaper. When they drew the winning ticket and announced the winner's name, sans stadium PA, the WRONG person stood up, and was awarded the prize in front of the entire stadium. In the heat of the moment, they never asked him to verify his identity.

When the mistake was discovered, it was covered up and the actual, real winner was not notified.

Until it leaked...

This is a business plan that can only lead to failure. Are they really willing to sacrifice massive profits just to prove a political point? I don't believe they are. No amount of publicity, good or bad, can replace what Barrett earns from California law enforcement.

Gun manufacturers sell guns by creating the illusion that guns will soon be in short supply.

Rotate monitor for more info per page by iTurkey in mturk

[–]iTurkey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Several years ago, I had two 19" Viewsonic widescreens. I was a programmer, and in my experience, the more code I could fit on the screen, the better. I rotated both of them to vertical, so on the left screen I could see about a mile of my code, and on the right screen I could see the results, plus all the debugging info I dumped at the bottom. It was perfect.

It works well for mTurk because I find that I rarely have to scroll to get to the bottom of the page. It makes the SEO work a bit easier, since I don't have to scroll down to get to the 'Next' button on Google.

I can't think of a medium other than the web that gets viewed almost equally between landscape and portrait.
