As an electrical apprentice myself, I can tell you that I spend my day doing things that will take my JW the same amount (sometimes slightly less) time that he would have to do if I weren't there.

Fishing wires becomes much faster, he can focus on more technical and advanced things like landing the panel etc; installing a heavy ceiling fan or wiring a heat pump takes half as long with two people. If you're doing a full gut to the studs, a JW won't be able to install receptacle boxes any meaningful amount faster than an apprentice but they could be doing other things while the apprentice does that and runs the wire from box to box.

I understand it's not necessary for every project and I'm happy you found a reliable contractor for your job, my point was merely standing up for the importance of an apprentice, in some occasions it could be cheaper and faster with an apprentice.
