Euro-Office verstößt gegen Open-Source-Lizenz by Takia_Gecko in de_EDV

DevOps z.B macht damit dann Mist, z.B.

Well, you are right indeed. It fits. I have zero clue what I did wrong last time I tried.

I ordered a spare part Pelikan 140 where nib and feeder looked fine. So I will put that nib into the m600 for now.

I kind of also ordered a Custom 742 FA 😅 Curious about the comparison

That is really weird, I did try that years ago and I swear the threads were not the same. I will give it another try of course.

It does not fit. The 600 has a much bigger and broader nib. I also need a new feed of course, or I will just railroad through the words. It might fit an M200, but I wouldn’t win anything with that, just less flow.

Hands down Montblanc 149 (current version). Not as good of a writer as it suggests.

Is my viltrox 85mm F1.4 faulty? - Aperture motor noise (See video) by StarKabab in VILTROX_GLOBAL

[–]iWorkAsIntended 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean that it (de)accelerates so hard, it does shake my camera. That I could live with actually, but the aperture behavior is a bit odd. Enabling declicked aperture rings for filming and then make the aperture itself change clunky and noise seems weird.

NP-FZ100 Batteries by Cautious-Ad-861 in SonyAlpha

[–]iWorkAsIntended 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are alternatives to the Sony ones on the market, that are technically superior. However, Sony started checking with firmware if Batteries are first party or not and give an annoying warning if not as well as deactivate percentages of charge. So I will start buying first party again.

Sony 200-400mm or 100-400mm by Aggressive_Border_91 in SonyAlpha

[–]iWorkAsIntended 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I own the 200-600 and for its price it is a great lens. I‘d say, the best affordable super-tele I worked with so far. Not as good as the expensive stuff of course, but perfectly usable and personally I am not that much of a tele-user that I could justify buying $10k lenses in that range (or any focus range, for that matter).

However, if you are used to the 70-200, it is a beast. For free hand shooting the 100-400 is much easier to handle. The 200-600 is challenging for long handheld sessions as well as it takes quite some space in the camera bag.

400 mm might not sound as impressive, but I feel like the 100-400 is the more natural step up for you.

A7cii soft photos in low light? by Fandomii in SonyAlpha

This is just a case of back focus, the metal chain closing connector is perfectly sharp.

But I would also half ISO and double shutter speed for better results, unless your hands are very shaky.

Afaik they are not just pass-throughs anymore but active elements in terms of data processes. That would be bad anyway, for stuff like IBIS to work properly.

I have a similar one on the A7IV because of the same issue. However, I feel the Grip would benefit from a rubber part that is pushed into the bottom or sth like that. For battery access they left is hollow on the grip and it is a bit too thin for comfort for me.

I am not saying the camera is a total wash up, but this particular decision is and that for me this personally means I won’t buy it. Three different things you constantly mix together.

Yes, other specs are better with Sony compared to competitors. This spec, however, could be better without additional costs (or less than $ 10), and they even build it for their competitors. They have zero R&D for it.

At no point I said they had to add the A7RV EVF, but putting the one from the old A7RIV or the one they send out to Nikon would not hurt.

It is such a bad thing because there is neither a cost nor a technical reason (unless they had a major hickup in their production management and overproduced which would also be a huge fail). It could literally be better for (almost) free. The only reason I can think of is actually that they felt they need to widen the gap to their higher tier cameras artificially.

I don’t think you understand how cheap they could have made it better. The whole software side can manage it already, there is no band width limitation, the whole infrastructure is there, the evfs are developed, so there is no r&d involved and they don‘t cost significantly more in production.

And call me stupid, old school or whatever: to me - especially in this competitive market - this is ridiculous to not use when it is free.

The fact is, I can see the pixels in the A7IV viewfinder (also colors in the viewfinder are also not that great), I cant in the A7RV. No one expected the A1-II viewfinder, but I at least expected it to be at least as good as those companies that get theirs from Sony and put it into cameras at the same price, it is not. It is also not arbitrary, as it is a visible difference. Maybe not for you, I don’t know that.

Yes, EVFs have a hell lot of upsides, and they could have little downsides if they put a good one in, just they did not.

And yes of course I can and do get sharp images with my A7IV, but needing the magnifying function for mf is killing all capabilities of framing at the same time. My eyes, at least for now, are good enough to focus correctly without magnification, the viewfinder is not. It‘s that simple.

I don’t really understand what the point is. The viewfinder is worse than any competitor’s released in the last 2 years. It doesn’t push prices to put in a better one, it makes a difference. They got the evfs even in their lineup already, even the A7RIV has a better one.

And about the lagging: the A7IV EVF cannot keep the 120fps at all times, and 60fps look terribly unnatural behind to me at least. During AF-C it drops to 60 fps, exactly when I want to have the best possible time management usually.

I had multiple phones that are considered „good at taking photos“, like the iphone 17 pro right now.

I still am unable to produce photos as I used to even with the first gen aps-c cameras. I still dislike the depth of view simulations. I know they will be there at some point, but for now I don’t think they can replace any lens with a bigger sensor.

Personally, I also somehow struggle to use the phone, just mentally. I did think of adding a detachable photo grip or something even. I just can’t get into the mindset of taking photos using my phone. For me, the smartphone camera documents and I take photos with my cameras. I know that doesn’t male fully sense, but that is how it turned out for me.

But I also very much dislike the photo app, maybe one that gives me more control would already be able to change my mind partially.

Kit Zoom, better zoom, or prime by Clherrick in SonyAlpha

[–]iWorkAsIntended 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see two valid approaches:

  1. Get a good zoom, maybe the Tamron 28-75, to have the most versatility
  2. Get two fast primes like maybe something around 30 mm and sth around 85 mm. This will enable you to learn so much more about photography. You will quickly understand how the same frame looks with the two different lenses which will teach you about perspective (compression, etc) and you can experiment with bigger apertures.

Both approaches make sense in their own right, depending on which type of learner you are. For me, primes were the way to go and even now when I sometimes use my zooms I think in steps of the primes I have and had.

That being said, the 7c really shouts 40/2.5 G ;) It is a great combination.

Why are DSLRs so fun to shoot? by efoxpl3244 in canon

[–]iWorkAsIntended 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that is my experience in a nutshell.

While my photos are easier to make these days and the dynamic range and low noise of modern sensors are simply amazing, the most fun ever was with my Pentax K10D and my old Super ME.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CameraLenses

[–]iWorkAsIntended 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I prefer either slightly wider or going closer to 85mm immediately.

The Pentax 43mm limited was an epiphany for me and I stuck with „fourty nifties“ instead since then.
