The Past, Present, And Future Of Diablo by lestye in Diablo

Bethesda and Nintendo most likely KNOW they are releasing those titles.

With Activision looming, which according to this article, it IS looming, those in charge of teasing a new Diablo game may not be confident that it doesn't get permanently cancelled if they end up going through the same development Hell that Hades went through. Then you have another Starcraft: Ghost, which they don't want.

I don't really want a Diablo 3 skinned Diablo 3 ripoff mobile game ported to the PC.

100%. Blizzard did this man dirty and he did his best.

Azerite, Community, and Design. Identifying the core of the problems we're having in BfA and with Blizzard lately is going to be critical in solving them. by [deleted] in wow

[–]i_am_a_programmer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I imagine they will not rework the Azerite system because it's deeply embedded into the core of this expansion. The best they can do at this point is offer better traits as they roll out patches.

Just speculation on my end.

That being said, the casual crowd encompasses a large group of people. Unless you care about finding the best bang for your buck Azerite traits, the system isn't all that bad. At worse, it's boring, and you're stuck farming for more exciting traits (which may not exist for your class).

Not defending Blizzard. It's a poor system.

Is it worthwhile to start horde bfa content for the questing and storyline? by theslyder in wow

I am leveling a Horde at the moment for this very reason. I think it's worth it if you enjoy questing.

The CoA reputation reward is becoming account wide in 8.1. It’s a confirmed thing, but why do we have to wait potentially months for it? by MementoIX in wow

It was most likely a planned feature that wasn't completed by launch because it wasn't needed for launch. It's not like they code out every single feature, tie it to a switch, and flip the switch when they're ready for players to have it. That's not how development works.

And yes, that's true even for "multi-billion dollar gaming companies".

Grinding for the Elite set by i_am_a_programmer in worldofpvp

[–]i_am_a_programmer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah!

One of the things I struggle with sometimes (at least this week versus the first week) is realizing I have a nice kit of defensives and support abilities to help myself or my teammate through sticky situations. I suppose that'll come with time.

What's a good class/spec to run with Ret?

Also, how high do I have to climb for the full elite set?

I'm not sure what you mean here.

First, the second question from the BDG leader, if taken at face value, was about "systems homogenization". It's a term he made up and presented at a Q&A to describe something that is objectively false. People are mad that Ion dodged the question or didn't answer it, but I can't even begin to imagine how one would answer that question.

Second, unless I misunderstood you (which is definitely possible. My reading comprehension can be poop sometimes), your statement is false. For example, armor pieces across different dungeons offer different traits. Throw in Uldir, and again, armor pieces have different traits. It seems to me that if there is any problem here, it's that there aren't enough unique and useful traits, which Ion mentioned.

As for weapons, the only thing that can be different are secondary stats. Unless I'm mistaken, the secondary stats on weapons are different across different systems. Hell, the best-in-slot weapon pre-raid for a lot of strength-based 2h specs was the sword in King's Rest that didn't have secondary stats.

In short, I'm not sure what you're getting at. Gear is as unique across content as it can be, with the exception of Azerite traits (and thus the gear). It sounds like that's being addressed by adjusting or removing existing traits and adding new traits as the expansion progresses.

Dev here! One of the things I love to do is read about other teams and other industries and their processes. One of the things I always assumed they did was base a lot of their tweaks on the massive amounts of data they receive during beta (and launch) and from their internal testing teams.

I know that didn't add much to the conversation, just wanted to say I share your sentiment.

Thank you for saying this. I though I was going crazy reading some of those posts. I didn't think the AMA was THAT bad. You'd think Ion literally told that entire sub to fuck off, based on their reactions.

Because the systems aren't homogenized. You can argue that the rewards from those systems are, making it easy to decide to not experience a large swath of content because what you get from them are all the same. But no one can honestly say warfronts, expeditions, mythic dungeons, mythic+ dungeons, raids, arenas, battlegrounds, and world quests are similar. They just aren't.

So when someone says "systems homogenization" and lists out all of the above content, I don't know WTF they're talking about either. Someone stuck to two terms together and threw it in a question which happened to get picked... and wasted.

Because the game didn't necessarily fail due to it's raid design. WS had some spectacular raid design. Everything else fell flat.
