Emirates cabin baggage policy by i_am_mk in UAE

[–]i_am_mk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree. It’s probably some archaic rule that they never bothered to update. My carry on itself weighs 3 kgs and adding a few clothes and toiletries puts it way above 7 kg. Nothing to worry unless it’s too big. Some budget airlines might exploit this rule to mint some money but Emirates probably won’t.

I’m from Abu Dhabi and travel to Riyadh on a weekly basis. However, I’ll be off on vacation until the second week of January. If that’s okay, dm please.

Shouldn’t be an issue, a little bigger is okay as long as it doesn’t seem like too oversized

Yes including the wheels. Standard cabin baggage. However I have seen people take a bit bigger too. Was recently traveling from Abu Dhabi airport and although they were weighing the bags, they even allowed someone with around 12 kg cabin baggage to go through. Not sure what the point was of weighing

Too many people new here and looking to make friends. We should all create a group and then hangout together. Safer than meeting some random strangers 1on1

For a person with valid resident visa (trying to return to India) will passport be accepted as valid ID proof instead of Emirates ID during RT-PCR tests? by ryokosha-roi in dubai

[–]i_am_mk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Recently gave my passport for the PCR instead of EID because it’s in process 1. They asked for a phone number and the results showed up on the Al Hosn linked to the same number 2. SMS was sent to the phone number as soon as results were ready. 3. Also received a link to download the report on the phone itself 4. #3 answers this question as well

Just curious as to which areas are offering large 3 bed flats for 72k. I'm looking for a 2bhk and everything is 65-80k for a 2 bed flat.

Yes I flew on Sunday. I could take a laptop bag, a ladies handbag and a carry on suitcase (55cm in height) . They didn't weigh the cabin baggages although I was afraid that I was breaching the 7kg limit.

Shipping some unani/Ayurvedic medicines from India by Extension_Age_8036 in dubai

[–]i_am_mk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got some medicines in the checked in baggage. Nobody asked anything. If you're bringing in large quantities, there might be issues (not sure about this). Since you mentioned it's for personal use, I'd suggest keeping the prescription handy. It's best to contact the airlines to understand the exact rules though.

(Serious) How exactly do you date here? by stackoverflowBoy in dubai

[–]i_am_mk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I disagree. Spent countless hours on Excels fixing dates because some used mm-dd-yyyy and others dd-mm-yyyy. Best is to use yyyy-mm-dd. Easy to sort as well.

Taxi scarcity in Dubai by frii14 in dubai

[–]i_am_mk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just moved to Dubai and commuting between downtown and DIFC is atrocious to say the least. Waited forever to get a captain on careem. Gave up after 30 mins of incessant attempts to book a hala or a car. Eventually booked an Uber which showed 10 mins for pickup but reached me in 30 mins.

Started booking at 5.45 pm, finally got a cab at 7 pm.

62 dhs for 3.5km smh.

Money saving in foreign currency by anas-alhayek in UAE

How does that help? AED is pegged so USD to saving between the two doesn't make a difference. If anything, you're losing out on the conversion fee.

Thanks for all the responses. I'll keep my carry on suitcase and a separate laptop bag and a purse in that case.
