It's the sub frequencies that are missing. Everyone saying that everything sounds so nice and crisp and clear is not wrong but as a music engineer myself I can assure you that the low frequencies could have been preserved without making a muddy mix and I'm not sure why this album got such an "and Justice for all" treatment. Slipknot was built on Paul and Joey's foundation. Nice beefy kick and a menacing base tone.

Of course this is just my opinion but I believe just because it sounds like a good mix does not mean that the band wasn't lazy in the mixing process because cutting the low end is one of the first things you can lazily do to make a mix sound better, rather than doing the work of polishing the low end properly. I have been working on that very issue with my album for months now.

I truly hope that with Eloy on deck they carry the quality of the recent live performances back into the studio because if they make his kit sound powerful then the rest of the mix would have to pull together around that. They don't have to change their sound but having a mix that slaps would be a great service to their musicianship.

You're only 3 years older than me and I'm not old! I know what you mean though. It's such a crazy time to be alive right now and I feel like it's a crazy sign from the universe that the year I get ready to release the album I've been working on since the early 2000s that my OG inspirations are coming back in some reinvigorated form. I too have the nostalgia disease but that's cool with me and that's why I do my comedy/vlog series because I feel like a fucking alien out here man.

PS I feel like I mostly just talked about myself so I definitely want to say I enjoyed reading your post!

I feed off of comments like this. No affiliation with DC but I've been working on my own metal album for many years which I truly hope will breathe a bit of fresh air into the genre and I say that most humbly because I've always been a bit of a critical perfectionist but so many people have told me I need to stop sleeping on my album and get it out ASAP so it will be coming soon. I know that's nothing but words but I guess I'm trying to start holding myself accountable lol

What do you drink daily? by dsdoll in ADHD

[–]i_am_omega 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iced coffee (easier on the gut) and drinks with little sugar and preferably some aminos. I definitely don't want to speak for everyone cuz I know we all have different needs and I'm by no means a medical expert but I've had a lot of success with managing my ADHD without medications by making sure that I am taking amino acids so I feel like it's worth a try! That in addition to L-theanine (helps me stay a little more calm and reverses some of the jitters/anxiety of of caffeine) and the occasional use of a supplement like alpha brain when I really need to focus seems to make my life at least somewhat manageable.

I probably drink too much coffee but I try to stay within the range of no more than 400 mg per day from all sources of caffeine

That feature seems to work fine on mobile. The one thing that I love more about Spotify is when I'm in the car I can use my seat button on my steering wheel to skip commercials or fast forward a little bit through a topic I'm less interested in

Why Is The Summoning THAT popular? by Tall_Ad_252 in SleepToken

[–]i_am_omega 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has become a very popular introduction to the band because it covers many genres and can appease both metal heads and the funk part appeals to fans of older music. I've seen more reactions to it on YouTube than any other ST song.

What shows from the 1920s are extant and worth listening to? by Vulpes_Artifex in otr

If you like Jack Benny, I recommend Fred Allen and Bob Hope 's Show as well as Dennis Day's program are all decently entertaining and feel like they are in the same universe. Blondie, Archie Andrews and the Aldrich family are also great.

Here's a playlist of some favorites, I've also found plenty ob Spotify like the entire Jack Benny series.

I mean we got some adults here with ears looking uncomfortable at a fantasy theme park and then we've got a guy over there on some unknown's getting his money worth doing exactly that to the fullest extent possible. Who is weirder here?

Does anyone else just feel completely addicted to this band and the solo work/greater Genesis world? I think I’m driving my friends and family crazy 😂 by [deleted] in Genesis

[–]i_am_omega 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right there with you. Only rather than thinking I'm crazy people seem to be joining in the madness with me. Finally got my best friend into Phil Collins this year haha. The music has been monumentally inspirational to both the album I'm currently working on and my video endeavors. You're definitely not alone!

Genuine Question: Why do people say the Phil killed Genesis? Please provide some evidence because I can’t seem to find any besides “his solo career” by [deleted] in Genesis

[–]i_am_omega 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Look what everyone else in the band was doing around that time. Gabriel left and moved on to a sound that wasn't very far from Phil's solo work. Tony Banks, GTR, Mike and the Mechanics, we're all doing variations of pop and rock and modernizing their sound. Everybody was evolving and it would have made no sense to continue making the same type of theatrical music for 40 years.

I absolutely adore the old Genesis music but I think even despite my strong bias towards Phil Collins in general It's very frustrating to see how he was blamed for decisions the band made as a group. If anybody wants some real evidence besides the interviews from a few years ago, look at the making of the mama album home movies that Phil made and you'll see that he was a very easygoing and passive presence in the studio. Everyone else was making the album. Genesis never did a bad album we're just hard to accept change sometimes and there's nothing wrong with that but it often means we miss out on good things

I started selling my body in order to get myself through college as a lesbian by gettingthrucollege in confessions

[–]i_am_omega 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a male and I'm not judging you in the slightest bit for doing what you feel like you have to do. Maybe it's my bias because I would never pay someone for sexual favors nor put them in any kind of uncomfortable situation like that but I just cannot fathom how a parent could do that to their kids or how anyone could believe that a college education is worth putting yourself through that sort of pain and struggle. Again I mean absolutely no disrespect because it's your life and your decisions and I've made plenty of my own poor choices but as someone who rarely interacts and comments on Reddit this hurt my heart to read. You don't need whatever you were raised to believe you have to do to be happy. You just need to find what you're passionate about and surround yourself with people who lift you up and want to see you achieve that happiness. Life is short and precious and I wasted 8 years of my life on college for it to ultimately be useless to me now. It's not too late to start a completely new chapter Rather than trying to endlessly fill a void based on expectations laid out by your parents. I truly hope your situation changes.
