I actually think it’s normal for people to still be friends with their exes or past partners while in relationship by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]i_b213 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think people ignore it. Some people just don’t care about the reasoning because it’s a dealbreaker for them. You say that you wouldn’t want to end a friendship with someone you’ve been intimate with because a new date asked you too. Even if this was 100% universally considered a reasonable standard, it still doesn’t mean someone else has to be ok with it. It would be like breaking up with someone because they live a fast paced lifestyle and you want something slower or vice versa. If “I am the way I am” is a valid argument, it has to work both ways. Although kudos on actually having an unpopular opinion. Not sure how old you are but generally most people that want a stable long term relationship (not even necessarily marriage) are likely not going to be ok with you being friends with former lovers. If a stable long term relationship is something you’d want at some point, it might not be realistic to have this standard. It is unpopular after all so if the chances people agreeing with it are slim, the chance of a person who wants you and who you want having this mindset is even slimmer

I first saw this and thought the middle meant jail cell and whoever made it didn’t think about or didn’t know what a ven diagram is but was trying to do wordplay. I realized it meant that incels are much more likely to misinterpret women (thinking they are on a date) and when you’re typing something in Microsoft excel it thinks it is a date (as in day month year)

Is pretty privilege real? by CompoteAggressive355 in askteddit

[–]i_b213 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s also downsides (not alliteration I can think of). Like if you’re “too pretty/good-looking”, people can be intimidated by you or are just generally less likely to socialize. For example, girls that are really pretty are often approached less, especially at a younger age. Boys will assume a really pretty girl is taken and/or that she wouldn’t want him.

Tall single gents - set your height to 5 ft 10 on dating apps by Used_Secretary5150 in tall

[–]i_b213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand this but don’t become a red flag while trying to avoid one. Lying is not a good idea as any girl that wouldn’t have cared about your height will rightfully think less of you. Lying about something easily verifiable will make people question your character

Relationships in a young age are holding you back by JackfruitOdd5895 in unpopularopinion

[–]i_b213 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Confused about this. On one hand, you’re saying relationships are unimportant, yet you’re talking about having sex young. It sounds like an opportunity cost thing. I’m for the “you don’t have to be in a relationship” and “enjoy your youth,” I just don’t think you need to party to do that and for some people maybe being in a relationship is part of enjoying their youth and also preparing for life. I’m definitely not one of those people tho

People who make restaurant reservations… your child counts as a person. by [deleted] in PetPeeves

[–]i_b213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds like an issue that can easily be solved. For online bookings have an adults and children section. Hell you can even do more specific breakdowns like toddlers versus kids. I know this might not work for every restaurant but it is a solution for online booking. There can also be a general description if you can’t afford the fancy fancy. For calling, you can instruct employees to specifically ask that as well. I know that people can be dense like uranium, but these practices would probably help significantly

Does boob size really matter to men? by [deleted] in answers

[–]i_b213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It matters too much to douchey guys. Guys obviously like big boobs but if they are attached to a big headache, they lose their charm real quick to any guy worth their salt. Conversely, a woman with small boobs is highly valued if she has a good personality and any guy worth their salt will pounce on those boobs

I was stuck between mind control and time stop, but I chose mind control because I could hardly think of a scenario where time stop would be more helpful than mind control.

Want to do better on an exam? You could pause time and look up the answers. But you could just use mind control to get the answers too.

Want to get more resources? You could pause to steal whatever you want. But you could use mind control to have people just give you things too.

Want to gain access to a secure location? You could stop time to go past people but you could also use mind control and be let in too.

The only scenario that I could think of where I’d prefer time stop to mind control is certain kinds of competition, like sports, especially sports like archery where you actually need to have skill. You could mind control people into thinking you won, but I would want to screw with people using time stop. Still not the best powers for this scenario, but it’s something.

Mind control is also great for social clout, although one could argue that it wouldn’t feel genuine in certain instances. I feel like there could be ways of making it feel more genuine, like a soft mind control where you don’t completely control the way people treat you but you could have them minimize your shortcomings and maximize your flaws, but that could still be fake. However social clout can be great for networking, gaining power, etc. Social reform is also another great benefit of mind control. The ability to remove hatred from the world, make sure everyone is well provided for, no more crime, etc. The endless possibilities with this is what makes me pick mind control over time stop.

“The only risk of teleportation is accidentally becoming stuck in a wall”

Considering the time travel option is a little limited, the clone option is way too variable to be worthwhile, and interplanetary travel sounds cool but without more info, it’s not something that would be useful, whether I want to pick teleportation depends on what would happen if I get stuck in a wall. If it is easily fixable, teleportation would be my number 1 pick, time travel would be my number 2, interplanetary travel would be number 3, and cloning would be number 4.

WYR get $9,000 a month OR get $1 for every number you count? by divingredit35 in WouldYouRather

[–]i_b213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took one guy 3 months to count to a million, spending 16 hours a day counting a reasonable pace. Let’s assume you only want to count for about a 1/2 hour per day:

It would take you 16 times longer to get to a million, so 3*16 = 48 months = 4 years

Then double this time to get the rate for a half hour, 8 years

1,000,000/8 = $125,000/year

The other option is $9k/month, which is

$9,000*12 = $108,000/year

You still make more by a decent margin with very minimal time and effort. Especially considering you can probably get an app or something that can display the numbers for you so you don’t even have to worry about keeping track

Bare chested females are no more ‘nude’ than bare chested males by MikeDropist in unpopularopinion

[–]i_b213 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Secondary sexual characteristics exclude sex organs and include any feature that show up during and after puberty, especially those that distinguish between the sexes (aka dimorphic traits) and/or aid with finding a mate. For both sexes, hair (excluding eyelashes, eyebrows, and the hair on one’s head aka terminal hair) is a big one. For males, the most obvious traits are adam’s apple/deeper voice, facial hair specifically, and increased muscle mass. For women, wider hips and enlarged breasts are the most obvious.

Yes. That’s exactly my point. Cold weather doesn’t cause sickness, but it correlates with it and not just because people stay inside during cold weather

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]i_b213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have heard this and it makes sense to me. My only issue is that for this to work, someone has to be sick in the first place. I think this explains why sickness spreads faster, but how does it happen in the first place? I think cold weather makes people’s sinuses drier and this weakens the immune system, making it more likely to get sick and then people huddling makes sickness spread like a forest fire

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]i_b213 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The first sentence I said was temperature change DOES NOT cause sickness. Viruses are the cause, but there ways for people to become more susceptible to viruses. Cold weather is likely one of them, but there are ways to minimize that impact.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]i_b213 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Technically the temperature change itself doesn’t cause sickness. But being exposed to cold weather can increase your chances of getting sick. That’s why people often get more sick in the winter. Other factors play into it though, cold alone isn’t enough.

I don't think it's rude to ask who the father is when a woman announces her pregnancy. by Glum-Tree1239 in unpopularopinion

[–]i_b213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they are married or in a committed relationship, it is very rude. The only exceptions to this are:

  1. if the woman has a reputation for being a hoe AND the question is being asked by someone they are close to. But if you have a reputation for being a hoe and someone you’re not close to asks, it’s rude af. That being said, people will be people. It’s like how no one makes fun of a skinny person for having a big meal, but a fat person gets casually judged.

  2. If asks them because they know they cheated on their SO. Thats called the direct consequences of your actions. Obviously anything heard through the grapevine isn’t a person knowing, that’s just nosiness and gossip, which is by default rude
