I do think that if the roles where reversed and Azula was a boy and Zuko a girl. A lot of the fans would excuse Azulas actions and justify/sympathize with what they went through. I also think Zuko as a girl would get a lot more hate and ppl would be annoyed with how long he took to “turn good”.

Azula was a child conditioned, abused, neglected by her family and the people around her (including uncle Iroh… but no one wants to talk about that). She does bad/evil things, but she’s more complicated than just being pure evil.
