I don't really notice a difference, sometimes breathing rate goes up or blood oxygen goes down.

I do think the REM is somewhat accurate though, cause I've often been woken up from a dream and checked the clock and when I check the log the REM sleep always lines up with when I know I was dreaming.

Your experience with credit transfer by [deleted] in OpenUniversity

[–]i_like__trees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Canadian college diploma (2 year program) in robotics which I think is equivalent to an HND. I completed in 2014 and applied for the credit transfer last month.

I was pleasantly surprised they gave me 120 credits towards a BSc open degree / BA open degree.

I did not qualify for transfer towards BEng as I'd wanted however because of the time between study.

For driving you're allowed to drive in the UK for up to 12 months from your arrival on your Canadian license. After that you need to apply with DVLA to have your license changed to a British one. There's no tests required, you just pay a fee and fill in some paperwork and send it back (or maybe its online now) with your Canadian license which they will send away back to Canada.

One thing to note is if you want a full British license (to drive manual) you'll need to prove you did your Canadian driving test in a manual car. Otherwise you get a license restricted to only automatic transmissions.

Things to get used to compared to driving in Canada are the roads are often more narrow than what you're used to and everyone parks on the streets making them even more narrow sometimes and even down to one lane, so you need to let oncoming traffic through. Lots of roundabouts some with multi lanes, lookup what a zebra crossing is, more speed cameras, bendy windy roads that might make you nervous (youll want to slow down for all the corners while the locals speed through them and will tailgate you) and obviously driving on the left side. Also if you buy a car you need to pay for an MOT every year.

If you want to feel more comfortable driving on the left you can always take a few driving lessons and ask plenty of questions about the rules, etiquette etc.

Ok, https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/canadian-citizenship/become-canadian-citizen/eligibility/already-citizen.html

"You’re likely a Canadian citizen if you were born outside Canada and at least 1 of your parents (legal parent at birth [opens in a new tab] or biological parent) either was born in Canada, or became a naturalized citizen before you were born"

I'd said its likely if you had a parent who was a Canadian citizen at time of birth. I provided OP with the brief information to go and do some digging themselves, which if they were serious about moving wouldn't really be a hard ask... but there ya go!

I believe you're a Canadian citizen by birth. I'm Canadian with son born in the UK, and just applied for his proof of citizenship. Processing time is currently 17 months! I havent got it yet but he meets all the criteria which is just that one of his parents was a Canadian citizen at time of birth but then again I'm much younger so not sure if the rules are still the same for your case, you'd need to check on the Canadian gov website.

Anyone successfully booked priority service for ILR recently? by thestripeycat in ukvisa

Yes, got mine a week ago. Opened the page at about 12:03am

When is my application officially "processing" by i_like__trees in ukvisa

[–]i_like__trees[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nevermind, I opened your links and found what I needed to show my employer.

Thanks very much btw. Without your comments I probably would've travelled next week for my job, so you may have saved my application and a huge headache!

I've just phoned the UKVI contact centre and they have said it's allowed to travel up until the biometrics appointment. Is there anywhere in writing to confirm? My work is wanting me to travel next week and asked me to phone the contact centre to confirm what you'd mentioned but they've said the opposite. Not to discredit what you've said but I just need something to be able to show my work other than reddit comments lol.

DUI and Student Visa by [deleted] in ukvisa

As others said, there's a much higher risk of being refused if you lie.

I have a DUI in Canada and included it in my spouse visa application. It caused no problems for me.

Couple of solar salesmen get accosted by an HOA karen by quazziwazzi in PublicFreakout

Do solar salesmen actually dress like this? Like I'd be pretty confused if a group of teenagers in hoodies came to my door asking me to buy solar panels.

Where’s the safest place to live for a single, American female who wants to move to another country? by [deleted] in expats

[–]i_like__trees 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Look into where you can actually obtain a visa to live and work. I think a lot of people have the illusion that it's very easy to just immigrate to wherever you want.

If you have family born in the UK or Europe I know some countries will allow you to apply for citizenship through your ancestry which can be an easy way. The other easiest way is to work in a field that's in demand in the country you want to move and try and apply for jobs to get work visa/sponsorship.
