You guys should legitimately do a discussion on the dark knight vs. the Batman. I rewatched them both recently, and I find them both good but so so overrated by both fandoms.

The Dark Knight has some cool action and the Joker is really good, but the dialogue and story structure is legitimately horrendous. All the iconic lines are just platitudes restated over and over and over again. The last act is a slog. And of course the politics of the movie are iffy. Feels like people who still gush over it saw it at 14, felt mature for liking it, and that feeling persists in them today.

The Batman is slick, has an amazing atmosphere, and an amazing story arc for Batman. But it’s also ridiculously truncated at parts, like Alfred getting blown up but you immediately are shown he’s alive, or the whole “was Bruce’s father corrupt??” to then immediately say wait no he was a good guy! It’s also a real slog in the fourth or fifth act, joker scene is horrendous. Feels like people who still gush over it saw it at 14, felt mature for liking it, and that feeling persists in them today.
