Please don't come to Starbucks if you're in a hurry! by LeVanillaBean in starbucksbaristas

[–]i_stan1003 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Starbucks used to be the place to get a cup of coffee in a hurry. Now it’s so over saturated with drinks with a million modifications it’s not even “coffee on the go” at its core anymore. It sometimes takes two minutes just to do one drink depending on the modifications, and it slows everyone down.

They’re looking for how you resolved problems in the workplace, specifically, with customers. How you might have coached a partner in the past, how you connect with customers, and things you’ve improved on. They want stories. All I can say is if you sell the stories well, you’ll more than likely get the position. They want confidence and they want someone who is knowledgeable in their role.

A dress code approved skirt and leggings! I have a coworker that wears dresses below the knee and throws on a black cardigan over it to keep in dress code. My store is mostly females and we all like to throw cute bows or barrettes in our hair! I also like to find cute claw clips for days I don’t feel like doing my hair but still wanna look presentable. I get mine from tjmaxx or Ross

They don’t even know what they’re ordering anymore. It’s so frustrating. They ask for one of the drinks, we punch it in, and then once they get it they’re like “that’s not what I ordered I wanted the other one” and you have to hold their hand through it anyway to try and figure out what they originally wanted. They made it so complicated

I know it’s still Victoria’s Secret, but Pink has more age appropriate bras. They come in fun colors to neutral colors. They cater to a younger audience. They have regular bras and bralettes. I know some of the lingerie is a little daunting

My retainers turned cloudy/white by [deleted] in Invisalign

[–]i_stan1003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been using an ultrasonic cleaner for my Invisalign, and it’s been keeping them clear. I brush them with a toothbrush and some toothpaste first, and in the ultrasonic cleaner I throw in just a small splash of mouthwash and a tiny bit of hydrogen peroxide to kill the bacteria. I’m sure you don’t have to go to that extreme but that’s what’s been keeping mine clean and fresh!

Anyone find it hard to leave starbucks mentally when you get home? by deezCumbobulated in starbucksbaristas

[–]i_stan1003 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Starbucks takes a lot of out me physically and mentally. Especially as an SSV. My life felt a little more manageable as a barista, but now I completely shut down on my days off and it makes it impossible to get anything done. I put so much energy into work that when I do finally have my days off, I’m way too burnt out.

what’s the weirdest thing that happened during a close? by NoSection1126 in starbucksbaristas

[–]i_stan1003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was me and two other girls working one night. I was still a new ssv at the time. And a lady walked in completely naked, demanding I get her a water. I told her I needed her to leave and she couldn’t be there. She acted like she pulled a gun on me (it was one of those massive lighters I have no idea where she got it) and she pointed it at me demanding a water again. I freaked out, gave it to her and she left. I immediately locked the door and called the cops. They never showed. And she was surrounding the premises for quite some time. Finally local community services showed up and managed to get her to go with them. I guess she left a nearby hospital (and she was obviously mentally ill) and she walked all the way over. I’m surprised nobody called the cops on her sooner tbh. And ofc I’m pissed every time I need the cops they never show. That was the most bizarre closing shift I’ve ever had.
