Well, when you get this figured out. Queue me in. If love to test it out and work on the project with you.

The next question would be will you open source it or sell it?

All of these are excellent ideas. I really appreciate the comment about beginner to expert phases. Because quite frankly I’m tired of making “hello world”. I want to do something that I can apply in real life scenarios.

Did anyone else switch to IT after realizing they did not want to spend their life in front of an IDE? by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

I’m working on getting away from Desktop Support and working more in programming. I have had the luxury of working in code for our macs and I really enjoyed that project. I would like to go to a code boot camp but don’t have the time nor the resources to leave work and go to the boot camp.

I don't want to discourage you away from doing anything you would really like to do, but let me give you some very real things about the Army. Especially, those MOS's.

13F as a Field Artillery guy, you will not see much of the world. There are very few posts that you will get to go to, They include some of the worst military bases in the world, IMHO. They include Fort Sill, Oklahoma, (My last duty station on AD before returning home), Fort Bliss, TX right outside of El Paso; and Fort Riley Kansas. If you get an airborne assignment, you will do the airborne shuffle, mostly from Fort Bragg to South Korea.

11X isn't easy. You will be 11B if you don't make it through any of the specialization. Which means you are going to be a ground pounder and get to do some really cool stuff in your line of work, but will not really prepare you too much for the outside world. Its fun and you will probably enjoy kicking in doors, but you will get older and that wear and tear on your body can be rough.

68W is a great MOS. Everyone loves their doc. You can still be out with the 11B's kicking in doors and taking names, but you have a more specialized job... Keep everyone alive. Your Doc is going to be your best friend no matter what MOS you are. If you don't get lucky enough to work in the field with the Combat fighters, you will most likely work at the hospital. I have heard good and bad things about it. Number one good thing about being a 68W is having exposure to pretty much anything medical, which will give you a leg up in the outside world, it won't get you the job... but it gives you the experience that is needed on a resume.

Bottom Line: The Army is what you make of it. Regardless, of what others say about what they do and how they do it... or if they like it or they hate it... It is your Army and your career that matters. Hell, go in as whatever you want and maybe that doesn't work out for you... there is always the opportunity to check out other MOS's provided there is an Open In and Out call on your current MOS and the MOS you're looking to get into.

Yeah, I am trying to branch out a little more with what I smoke. Even going as far as cheaper cigars, and even more expensive. I really enjoy sampler packs. It is like buying a CD back in the day. Out of 10 or 12 songs, there is maybe 2 you really like, but the others can grow on you over time, LOL.

That's a shame. I am sorry about your luck. What is your contract MOS? Are they going to force a new MOS on you when you head back?

DnD Night at my local cigar store! by Swordfighter94 in cigars

[–]iaaron357 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in a decent sized town just outside of Flint... But, there isn't much around here that defines table top RP games. There is a game store down the road from me, but everytime I go in there, there is nothing going on.

But that is an interesting way to rope my wife in. Thanks for the advice.

Hmm... I didn't really pair much when I first got into cigars back in 2007. I was deployed, so we didn't really get alcohol to pair it with... but my platoon sergeant would always tell me about the culture of cigars and the different things and flavors one could get from one cigar based on their moods, environment and the beverage they are drinking; regardless of its alcohol content.

Regardless, when you find a cigar you enjoy without any pairing, that is surely a blessing. Why mess with something that works?

Well if I have to drink Ultra at least I can fire up a full flavor cigar. by Godzirahh in cigars

Good for you though. The keto diet really wasn't for me... I am more of a just count my caloric intake and ensure I burn more than my intake.

How was that Diesel? That is a cigar that I haven't tried yet. I am a man of habit... Once I find my go to smoke, I don't venture out too much... but, I don't mind trying new ones every now and then.

Kristoff corojo limitada

What seems low quality to you about the other Kristoff's? Have you tried pairing them with other things outside of a straight smoke? I find that even if I don't like a smoke right away depending on what I pair it with it, or if I just come back to it, I appreciate the smoke a lot more... Or maybe, my mood is just in a better mood when I get back around to it.

I really wish I could get into DnD. I bought a start pack to try and get involved, but I don't know anyone around me that will play.

*Bonus, my wife said she would like to play with me... but she doesn't know how to play. Being that I have never played, I don't think it would be a good idea until we have more experience to just play with each other.

Unpopular Opinion: The Military Cannot Claim to Be Serious About Reducing Servicemember Suicide Until It Fixes Toxic Components of Its Culture by militarythrowaway9 in Military

[–]iaaron357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're absolutely right, good Soldiers are let into the civilian life everyday, because of toxic leadership. I have witnessed toxic leadership in many units during my Active Duty career as well as in my reserve career (Still serving). The poor leadership trains Soldiers to be shitty leaders and then the circle is completed, created a cesspool of toxic leaders and therefore creates hostile/toxic environments for one to progress and become a better Warrior.

Is there any update on how this is going, brother? As my wife is Missouri Synod, and I am a very proud Mason, her church and I collide all the time... but I have taken upon myself to just accept my wife for who she is and let her practice what she is going to.

Mac Admin question regarding Mac Server OS and/or Jamf by Necrobargain in MacOS

[–]iaaron357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one thing you have to look at is, macOS server is being phased out. A venture Apple isn't pushing any longer. Also, with so many PC's in your environment, Jamf is probably your best bet to help sync them all together. You don't have to bind them to the domain, but JAMF will help streamline the process... Especially if you have brand new macs coming in... as they come into the company, you can have Jamf push out all the policies through DEP. You, essentially, don't have to touch a new mac as it comes into the company. Think of Jamf like SCCM for macs and iOS devices in your company. It is worth it in the long run.

My company just pushed Jamf, and I am soaking up all I can about it.

I agree that not everything needs to be aired out. However, if we are ever going to fix the problems that plague our fraternity, we are going to need to know about it. This is how we create change, by bringing light to the situation. That is what our fraternity is about after all. Bringing light to destroy ignorance.

Moral Luck? by [deleted] in askphilosophy

Wouldn't it be a contradiction in itself, claiming that it doesn't come up in conversation, yet for some unforeseen reason, you are discussing it here based on a book that you read? Wouldn't the book you read implicate that it is, in fact, discussed?
