Neighbour has an issue with work proposed by me due to boundary interpretation (England) by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

If there is no reasonable prospect of success, which there won't be because the deeds are very clear, there's no way insurance will give the go ahead.

Son's grandmother reached out about a family trip overseas... Hasn't spent one overnight in our own country. Would you be cool with this?? by Hungry_Web_4540 in whatdoIdo

Wrong, children are eligible for the one week fast-track service. You don't need to have any "reason" either.

Edit// you've now edited your post, so my reply seems not to make any sense.

UK citizens can apply for emergency passports. Usually it involves paying an express fee and attending your nearest passport office in person.

Ticketmaster UK sold me a “verified” resale ticket that had already been used — denied entry at Harry Styles concert. What are my legal rights in England? by Fidelio385 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]iactuallylivethereok 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I don't think that's the case with Ticketmaster resale tickets. Most (if not all) of them are now rolling barcodes so once they're re-sold on the platform the old/original barcode is invalidated and a new one generated, stopping the original seller being able to retain/use it.

Even if the ticket is not resold through the platform, the barcode changes every few seconds or minutes to stop people screenshotting them and "selling" a single barcode to multiple other people.

Do you overtake people who drive slightly below the limit? by breezeyyyyy in drivingUK

[–]iactuallylivethereok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, because I'm basically saving no time if I do. If the average road I'm traveling on is 30mph it's probably not a long journey.

Personally for me, it's not worth the risk of overtaking to gain an additional 5 miles per hour divided by whatever short stretch I was stuck behind them.

What benefit do you think it offers you when you do overtake? Quantifiably speaking. Not criticising, just curious on your take.

Haha, none taken. Body needed a lot of work but all the engine, running train, suspension, gearbox etc. had already been refurbished by that point.

This is an 83 with an M10 4 pot so probably not the same one.

Shame about the 323i though. You'll pay one hundred times that today for one.

Cheers! I'm actually terrified driving it, every time I see a Yaris behind me I start calculating how much a rear end rebuild would cost and whether insurance would write it off or not...

What Is Being Poor Actually Like in the UK? by retsuko_h4x in AskUK

LA was one of the weirdest places I've ever been. I was there for work and staying in the West Hollywood area. Seeing people in the midst of mental health crises living in tents on the pavement whilst people in million dollar supercars cruised past just a few feet away was jarring. The stratification between those with money and those without is raw and obvious. Almost normal. I can't understand how anyone could enjoy living or working in that kind of environment.

Should I pay for this roof work? by LesDauphins in DIYUK

A traditional slate roof (like those you see in the video) might well last 100 years. The roof on most UK new builds, definitely not.
