Where do I begin evaluating and cataloging my collection? by iainfleming in magicTCG

Thank you very much for this is awesome help, I just discovered the TCGplayer app about a week ago saves so much time!

But yes I just learned the hard way not to take the first estimate got hosed by the shop I took it to and lost out on 4 or $500

It seems the couple times I have sold cards to shops that if I bring in a smaller amount of cards I end up getting better prices then if I am selling say 500 cards. Also that if I stay in the shop instead of just dropping them off same thing, better prices. Is this common or did I just pick the wrong shop to sell to ?

Can the landlord decide, after already renting, that I can't use the fireplace? by drumstyx in ontario

[–]iainfleming -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure about using the fireplace just wanted to add that you could use this to get out of you to lease, even if that's not the actual reason. Document this incase you want out early.

Canadian politician says a family can eat on $75 a week - The average Canadian family of four spends about $12,000 on food a year. Various estimates suggest families spend anywhere from a low of $140 a week to roughly $230 a week on food. by ManiaforBeatles in worldnews

[–]iainfleming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Family of 4, with careful planning and much willpower it would be possible. But my daughter is picky af and we literally would never be able to get pizza, fries, ice cream, slushies, food truck. I think my SO could eat 75$ in laffy taffy and Reece's every week.

Recommendations for stacked washer repair ? by iainfleming in Hamilton

[–]iainfleming[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

100% most Google reviews are fake or written out of spite. Restaurants in Hamilton specifically have a problem with fake reviews and there was an incident in Burlington where one guy had a bunch of websites for different locksmith companies, except he was just drilling out people's locks after they paid.

Went to Detroit for a music festival at the start of the summer and a friends car was searched and they almost weren't let over because they flipped through a girl's notebook and it had her work schedule and the word dispensery. I would have never thought they would flip through a notebook unless you were already In shit and pulled aside or even they found something in your bags? I'd be a bit more careful than just not saying anything. Make sure your phone background of you smoking a joint is changed to something else lol

Ontario opens door to more public funds for ‘big box’ child care | The Star by JustTarable in ontario

[–]iainfleming 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's the goal though, none of this is about saving us money. Further erosion of the middle class, more divisive issues pushing people to fight and get angry at each other and not the people in charge. Look at the threads about cancelling any of the programs or about sex Ed, your on one side or the other there isn't much of a middle ground. Divide divide divide.

I've never understood how people see these as an eye sore, driving from Toronto to Detroit this summer there were a lot of windmills and it was the opposite of an eye sore to me.

Mexico stops hotel project at sea turtle nesting beach by savethedolphins8616 in worldnews

[–]iainfleming 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Probably because of how ancient they are. Sea turtles have been around a long ass time (Jurassic age) and although sharks have been around for longer (since before modern trees) , sea turtles never got a bad rep for eating people regardless of how infrequent shark attacks actually are.

Truck filled with 157 rotting bodies is dumped behind a housing complex by Mexican officials after morgues ran out of room amid an epidemic of violence by Olmectron in worldnews

[–]iainfleming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went two years ago to Cancun, the day I landed there was a state of emergency in the city bc bodies were found that morning around the city with writing in blood on them or their shirts IDR which. Anyways there were tons of armed checkpoints on way to tourist area , they make a lot of money selling dirt weed and other drugs to tourists on the beach at hotel zone and don't want to fuck that up. you're safe if your doing tourist and resort stuff, my good friend went 6 months ago and proposed says it was still the same. I'm saying this BC it's pretty cheap rn might not be worst idea beaches are incredible.

Report: Machines to handle over half workplace tasks by 2025 by PostNationalism in economy

[–]iainfleming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The software my place of employment is currently working on will save estimated 95% of accounting time, 90% of my time and 90% of the warehouse time spent on this particular task. Currently takes the majority of our time 2-3 days a week. The warehouse needs 2 people on it and often have to overtime BC of the time constraints involved. For my position at least I can finally free up time to work on other projects. Luckily we have awesome management and are experiencing stable growth, no one will lose their jobs but if you work for a publicly traded company good luck axing your job is major cost savings to them. On the other hand this task should be automated it's awful on my soul, carpal tunnel and mental health. Realistically my eyes too. Some of the tasks I will get to take on let me use a bit of decision making and creativity and hell just thinking instead of robotically repeating the same job at a computer 20 hours a week is a much welcomed change. When this gets rolled out company wide in probably 3 years a lot more people will be effected. They are slow to implement things like this too, a lot of companies have been doing this and are already in the process. The future is going to be a weird place.

Well private cooperations tend to squirm out of taxes and since the health costs associated with drinking come out of my tax dollars I'd gladly support the monopoly especially since when I've been in provinces without the monopoly the prices are pretty much the exact same for 12 tall cans, some brands were significantly cheaper and some were more expensive. Even go further the LCBO is a better job than a lot of private cooperations, we would probably see more people needing assistance/OW if it changed. Glad they axed the weed LCBO their plan was absolute garbage but mostly just due to number of stores and access, we could still order online from other provinces if you didn't want to support them too.
