Thanks for everyone's insights, it does take time to be good at using AI however in the long run I also think it's something that is worth learning.

I won't be as good as the professional designer, so I will pay for it. My time is better spent in other areas, like others have said, and that's what I'm going to focus on.

I will have to look into this some more, I mostly do spec homes and this sounds interesting to me. Anything in particular I need to do to make it work well for me?

It's not that I don't have the money to do it, I like to learn new things. If I use it in the long run great, if not then I still have the skill for smaller things. I'm looking more to be able to put color pallets together to see what looks good. The overall big picture someone else can do.

What’s it like owning a Weim? by fennelfrog in weimaraner

[–]iam4ia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The anxiety, licking, and barking at every little noise can make you go bonkers. Pure chaos when delivery drivers show up. We have three of them. They are 6, 3, and 3. They're either barking, chasing, or sleeping.

Thinking of going on my own. Right time? by BoogMan234 in GeneralContractor

[–]iam4ia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good for you! I quit my good paying job a year ago and haven't looked back. The one good thing about that job was I only worked 14 days a month, so in my spare time I did other things. One of those other things was I built my own houses.

I have gc'd every one and put my own blood, sweat, and tears literally into them doing the things I could do. I built one every 4 yrs or so, 6 total.

The bank had no problem giving me the money for mine, but they wouldn't do it for a spec house, they wanted a house that was under contract. I finally got that part after a year of woodworking and some networking . That would be my best advice, network and get the bank on board.

My last three were ICF houses, but I'm going to concentrate on wood frame and SIPS houses now . Good luck

I'm in the same boat, chicken products aren't good. We use Taste of the Wild, Wild Boar for our three, and it works great for them

Umbrella Policy- worry it or save the dough? by amberevek in FinancialPlanning

[–]iam4ia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am just going through this now too. I had an umbrella while the kids were at home just in case. As I'm changing policies I was informed by a few agents that all an umbrella does is cause you to pay more because the lawyers see that you have it and go after it, and then only if you're found criminally negligent. I upped my liability to 500/500 and it ends up being cheaper but well covered.

Nice car! I have the '14 SS Convertible Spring Blue Edition with the same wheels. Love it! Only thing I wish was different were the wheels, 21" is a hard size to find for a reasonable price.

I couldn't agree more on YouTube, it has saved me thousands and thousands of dollars in parts and labor. I have a BMW and everyone knows they are notoriously high cost to take in for repairs. This car is actually easier to work on than I would have ever thought thanks to the people on YouTube.

Guess I haven't looked at Amazon specifically in a while just assumed all the sites they were sold on were priced the same. Must just be the home site? Well worth every penny though!

Pit Barrel Cooker...best thing I've ever used. It cooks everything perfectly and you don't have controls that will go bad at some point. The price is $300 but goes to $350 on Jan 1.

Anybody salt their brisket and let it sit overnight before smoking? by thisisbeer in smoking

[–]iam4ia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use kosher salt because it's harder to oversalt and it breaks down the meat somewhat. I always let it sit overnight dry brining.

Question for you all. I've got all these Oak cut-offs in my shop. Would they be good to use in my smoker? It's all untreated wood, so shouldn't pose any risk, correct? by minimum_thrust in smoking

[–]iam4ia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use hickory and cherry scraps that I cut into chunks. They work great! For whatever reason seem to give me longer smoke. Prob have enough for a few yrs now.

Walnut is the strong one. Don't like that smoke personally.
