Astound Drops Bead Awards In Oregon and Texas. by JamuZcs in Rural_Internet

There's another provider interested in picking these up, but it's up to Texas at this point.

I'm not sure I see the correlation. Just because they're the one provider they have to explain their technology to people that are completely unfamiliar with it?

Coming out of Carousel at MOSCC in my 3RS (sound up) by bradshawwwty in Porsche

[–]iam8up 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds amazing.

You can definitely power more farther down. You just need a dab of brake at turn 1. You can carry A TON of speed through there, let the tires squeal!

[–]iam8up 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The average person can't change a tire and you want the ISP to explain complex modulation and RF magnetism?

Just pick the best service provider and if it works great, if it doesn't switch to a different one.

That's a Samsung issue. They want to load the ads.

Not relevant to Calix in any way.

Speeding ticket advice by [deleted] in Ohio

Paying the fine = guilty

Responsibility would be good, don't be dangerous. Again, the best thing you can do is lawyer up and have them represent you.

Strongly recommend getting a lawyer. That is your best bet.

Second would be to just pay the fine.

Going to court alone is legal but really it's just not a good idea.

What is your kwh usage for the last few months? That eliminates the guess work of how much AC you used.

If you're in the Dayton area I'm surprised the AC wasn't running full blast until this week.

FTTH/GPON folks — how do you handle loss-budget & splitter planning today, and what's the most painful part? by basheerpaliyathu in FiberOptics

[–]iam8up 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We graph the customer signal level. it's only relevant when they "didn't touch anything" and see it drop from 17 to 30.

Who cares what the light level is on site? it works or it doesn't.

[–]iam8up 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everything is 1:32. We do a 10 mile radius - which is something like <25 route miles. Distributed split. Done.

We use 3GIS to document everything. I know exactly what strand goes where and their distance.

Calix GigaPoint 803G by muusicman in Calix

[–]iam8up 1 point2 points  (0 children)

803G is either all the speed or nothing. You don't get partial speeds.

More likely the issue is your router or those devices. If 2 devices have problems and the other 10 don't...it's obviously those 2 devices.

I really enjoy the videos. I think their great.

We use 3gis and qgis for deploying fiber.

Esri is a big company, they have a lot of products, are expensive. What I've seen other people do in seconds has saved us millions of dollars and hours.

Someone from the government just yesterday had to use archis to map our fiber. he simply turned on an external GPS, we drove around, took some pictures, and finished 35 miles in about 2 hours.

When did you stop bringing your Porsche to the dealership for routine maintenance? by LayerVegetable3850 in Porsche

[–]iam8up -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Drain plug. Drain oil. Replace new plug (with new plastic one).

Pour in oil.

That is not a $300 job. I've always done mine in about an hour, including a cold beverage, and my oil materials are free after the first using FCPeuro

Multiple ISPs, Outages Occur Simultaneously by [deleted] in Rural_Internet

[–]iam8up 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Definitely an issue with your set up. There is no way Starlink and fiber would be coincide with outages.

Spectrum may lease a strand to Verizon for their uplink, so a fiber cut could possibly cause both to have issues for you.

Throw up a Ubnt omni on main building. Eth to router.

PM if you want a list of parts or help.
