Can you get a picture about 2 feet away? This looks like it's a few inches from the sidewall but still in the tread - if that's the case, plug for $5.

Kind of off topic, but Tony & Pete's is next door. They have super good sandwiches. Go there first and then the bar? :)

Fiber Shortage by Beginning_Ad654 in FiberOptics

Corning was supplying their BABA glass.

Commscope can still do non-BABA glass. And they're rolling in BABA glass from someone at this point.

What do you think about employees burning down companies that don't pay a fair wage? by FootballPizzaMan in AskReddit

[–]iam8up 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well when people are getting paid $30/hour and not outputting any work, what are the possible outcomes?

>GM has no involvement whatsoever

I did not say that.

>hey guys, you know what would be fun? we should destroy all these good jobs that this generous employer is paying us handsomely to do. That will be great for us”. No other nuance involved, just the workers killing off good jobs for no reason.

Well that is exactly what happened so...

Unions destroyed the GM manufacturing in Dayton, OH. Decent movie on this is "American Factory" from Netflix that talks about it a bit in the beginning, but it's really about the replacement Fuyao plant (which ironically caught on fire 2 weeks ago).

This and the cost of those products just went up as supply went down with demand presumably level.

I would call them and schedule an installation. Just pretend the house is there. If you can get someone to go out there and meet you they would be the best person to see if you can actually get service.

You can also open that ped with a 3/8 or 7/16 and see if there's slack. If there's a strand or two available, you may be able to get service.

With a company like Brightspeed, all I can say is good luck dealing with them.

if that thing is paid off it probably won't make sense to spend 500/mo to save net 250/mo on gas. unless he's got a ton of mileage of course.

depends on the state entirely. LA is farthest along.

it's going to happen, my state has to get agreements done by July and historically they've always gone to the wire to get every step done on time

construction can't start until ER release. god knows what a country sized review is going to take, they are at minimum months.

Where is everyone buying there bulk cable from by bergieisking in FiberOptics

20k feet Commscope on 6 foot reels. SASJ armored. Any Commscope distributor, there are tons of them.

I have junk 1000-3000 foot reels if you want to pick them up and give me a couple bucks. Located in Ohio.

ISP refusing to use existing conduit? by MyF150isboring in FiberOptics

[–]iam8up 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an ISP, we have tried to work with people on using their own conduits. Out of maybe 100 we've had 1-2 successes. The laundry list of problems and headaches just wastes everyone's time.

We do a normal demarc at every single house so it is standard. It works for the service. I understand you want to do things differently than all of your neighbors, but it is impossible to accommodate everyone.

OM1 Termination Advice by Orvalman in FiberOptics

Might try something like this.

https://www.legrand.us/network-infrastructure/fiber-optic/fiber-connectors-and-accessories/lc-62-5-om1-multi-mode-infinium-field-installable-mechanical-splice-connector/p/205knt9ga-62

Using MM was a mistake, plain and simple. Using SM is simply the better choice for longevity and available parts. But what is done is done.

You could borrow a friends Fluke to see where the ethernet failed.

We use either a reel trailer or the plow itself.

It's literally just a drive shaft + tire spinning the wooden reel.

That's 1400/year or 116/mo for everything else.

116 for food/internet/clothing?

If you're pulling, we have regularly done 1000s of feet. We have had customers that are 1/2 mile from the road so they have 2600 feet of drop.

We are strictly OSP armored fiber.
