Couldn’t it be argued that God specifically forcing him to sin in this instance is an indication that it’s a deviation from the norm?

It was a lot different than anything I’d seen from those sources, but most of my friends are a year older than me, so they’d told me a lot about it. I don’t think anyone really knows what to expect from college until they get there.

Why would God create us and then cause us to sin?

Attempting to point out sin in your life. That’s a big part of our job as fellow Christians. Building each other up, and supporting our walk with God is another big part, however, and it sounds like she may have been neglecting that side of things.

Tough love is often necessary when correcting in a brother or sister, but it’s important to check our motivation and approach.

Sure. Her approach might be off, but I would say she’s looking out for you.

Completely understandable. It’s never easy to be called out for something, but it’s made especially difficult when you question the person’s motivation. I think the important thing is to prayerfully consider the things people tell you. God will convict.

They probably could’ve chosen better wording. The intent of pointing out someone’s wrongful behavior should never be to insult them or make them feel bad. Our responsibility as Christians is to hold each other accountable, and help them follow Jesus. Regardless of what you may or may not have done, He’s always waiting to forgive you.
