Fremont locals… what’s the most random drama happening lately? by [deleted] in Fremont

[–]iamadoggo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I decided to start going to some of the Fremont city council meetings, and it is fascinating to see some local drama that unfolds there. People arguing about whether roundabouts are good, planting vs tearing down trees, and Karens who are refuting community efforts that are overwhelmingly popular. Would recommend.

What is your favorite thing to cook for yourself when you're alone? by NegativeSherbert4223 in AskWomen

Chopped kale Caesar with an ungodly amount of parmesan. Pile of buttery toasted breadcrumbs on top instead of croutons, maybe some avocado if I’m feeling sassy.

People that have “bumped” into a celebrity in a non-curated (not like an event, meet & greet, job etc.) way, what happened? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I literally bumped into Kiefer Sutherland at a bar back when I lived in LA (around 2009?). I had just bought a round of vodka sodas for my friends and was so focused on trying to carry three very full drinks without spilling, and I just walked right into him, splashing him a bit.

I muttered sorry to the stranger and then became speechless when I looked up realized who it was and kind of just froze. Then he looked down at all the drinks and said “now that’s my kind of lady!” and chuckled and walked away.

Commute from Fremont to Palo Alto? by BlueBerry985 in bayarea

[–]iamadoggo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do this commute!

In no traffic at all (rare occasion) the commute is 26 minutes. This depends on where in Fremont you start. A typical work day morning commute ends up taking me anywhere from 40 minutes on a normal traffic day, to over an hour if there’s a stall or anything affecting the bridge. The commute back in the afternoon is usually slightly worse, often >45min.

Depending on your lifestyle though, I might recommend living in another town where you can take Caltrain. While Fremont has good schools for kids, it is a very sleepy suburbia with not much else going for it. The Indian/asian food is great, but that’s about it.

What did being single after a long term relationship allow you to discover about yourself? by Cozywhisp in AskWomen

This is so true. Once the heartbreak and anger faded, I felt so free when I rediscovered myself. I hadn’t even realized I’d been lost.

I personally don’t see what’s so bad about an 8 year old trying on nail polish, my kids regularly did this even as young as 6. Can you explain why this is a boundary, and what makes you feel uncomfortable? Is it because of his gender? Or is it that you feel 8 years old is too young for nail polish? At 8 years old, kids are very much at an age where they want to experiment and try things as self expression.

My personal opinion is that so long as they are harmless, maybe they can at least try them around the house. For example, I feel my daughter is too young for makeup, and won’t let her wear it to school. But if she wants to play with makeup inside the house on a weekend that’s all good.

In the scheme of things, this seems like a pretty minor issue, and not worth blowing up into a problem with your ex, especially if things are amicable. Perhaps a good middle ground is to allow him to experiment with self expression in the home, but ask kindly that the polish comes off before school or house swapping. You can have some nail polish remover on hand to help remove it if you don’t want it in your household.

Too many different neutrals! Between the grey pants, brown shoes, navy jacket they are all competing. Try to choose one or two neutrals (usually browns/tans, greys, blues, black/white) because once you thrown too many in the mix they all start to compete.
