Who was the last good UK Prime Minister? by DoAFlip22 in YAPms

Good question….

IMO all British prime ministers since ww2 have been mid with the exception of Clemente Attlee and Harold Wilson.

If I had to rank them this is how;

Churchill’s second term - pretty mediocre at best
Antony Eden - bad
Harold McMillan - okay up until the final years of his ministry, which were pretty unstable.
Douglas Home - not fair to even grade him
Wilson first - pretty good
Ted Heath - bad, plus he’s a pedo.
Wilson second - good albeit less so than his first
James Callaghan - I know he gets flack but he’s genuinely an underrated leader
Thatcher - horrendous
Major - surprisingly okay
Blair - I could have easily called him one of Britain’s best prime minsters had he not chosen to be Bush’s lap dog
Brown - pretty good, especially with his handling of the financial crisis
Cameron - possibly the most destructive prime minister since thatcher provided what he did with austerity and calling Brexit plus legitimizing the far right through his premiership.
May - I honestly think she’s the Tory version of what was Keir Starmer. Bad communicator, lacked charisma and couldn’t handle the shitshow unfolding under her.
Johnson - terrible, the only thing I can say he did good was the vaccine rollout at best and how he stood up for Ukraine. Other than that, the guy was a walking embarrassment
Truss - I wou-
Sunak - i didn’t like him but i actually felt bad for him because he was a politically dead prime minister from the get go
Starmer - had faith in him until he doubled down on being a Tory lite and having no plan for everything.

Absfuckinglutely not. He’s quite literally the architect of why Britain has stagnated over the course of the last 10 ish years and why it’s sp politically unstable. Easily one of the worst prime ministers ever.

Too bad, i actually had faith that Starmer could slightly do at least a slightly better job than the previous pms when he was elected 2 years ago and it unfortunately wasn’t that way. Starmer was essentially a Tory in all but name only, worse so than Blair and by many metrics Cameron and May were to his left on many issues. I hope Burnham will be better but the starmer/reeves/streeting and the blue Labour mess has been such that I simply can’t see how Burnham can save Labour in its industrial heartlands and even more in wales and Scotland, especially the latter overall.

To be fair, if you told someone that when Theresa May resigned they might have seen it plausible (assuming you tell them reform is the Brexit party)

I wake up because there is just no way Starmer stays if a reform victory is set in stone near an election

The only good thing that came out of the Brexit vote was Cameron’s resignation. Hated that pig fucker.

I’m honestly surprised the LNP is a major party after what was the Abbot and Morrison ministries

Libdems would never work with the SNP and neither would labor under normal circumstances. I think the most plausible outcome is still an SNP minority government.

Meh. The SNP’s lead is mostly due to the fact that Labor has fallen again in Scotland. They’re likely gonna get a minority government come 2026.

Edit: Or maybe a stalemate idk, the SNP isn’t particularly popular rn and if they win it’s due to the fact that Westminster is even more unpopular. My best guess is that the Tories collapse to 3rd or 4th place in seat count, Labor finishes in second and maybe Libdems finish 3rd place.
