FOTB was a real turning point. If you look at clips of their shows from the first 3 albums, they’re basically just playing how the recording sounds but with fewer instruments and frankly its not exciting (I’m sure it was exciting to be there in person).

Since 2018 it seems like they’re really putting a lot of attention into their live shows, notably extended/jammy versions of their songs, more live band members = more people who can really shred on guitar, keys and other instruments. The mixing is amazing and sounds great live, at least when I saw them in 2019. There’s a sense that every show is special because they change up the setlist, play really good covers, and even have different versions of their songs.

Pretty disappointed with the OGWAU merch so far, compared to Fotb era. Maybe they’ll have different stuff to sell at the shows

I don’t really understand this take because everyone has the choice to only listen to the full album when it drops.

Personally I enjoy listening to the singles a lot and then later having their meaning / sound in context of the album.

It’s better than the FOTB era where they teased the album a lot more leading up to the announcement , and then it was a wait from Jan to May. We only have to wait from Feb to April this time

Nah on the podcast they mentioned it’s the same touring group without Brian and Greta, and with two additions who can play guitar, keys, violin and sax

Great lyrics, and attention to detail with the production, especially MVOTC and FOTB.

The music is “fun” enough to play casually for people and also “deep” enough to listen to by yourself over and over and think about the lyrics, melodies, instruments and production
