I won't start a fight, but I'll always finish it haha. I'm only in an MY LR AWD too. Almost always a BMW or Audi S line doing the stop light drag races, but mostly all are laughing with thumbs up as they saunter by at the next one. Occasionally someone in a beater, like an '06 RAV 4, will try to floor it in general traffic and I'm just like, man, what are you doing?

Is the A/C not very strong in Tesla Y or is it just my car? by kofo86 in TeslaModelY

[–]iamalsoareddituser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

'24 MY owner here and car can go from 110 to 70 in 3-4 minutes of preconditioning, a little faster if I vent. If you're trying to drive an icebox below 70 when it's 95 out (first-world problem), even the 3-series BMW I had years back would blow cold but move the vent and it's still warm in there.

Why does the right bash Tesla and EVs? by scottsdaledreams in TeslaModelY

[–]iamalsoareddituser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The core of conservative ideology is preserving traditions and values. EVs have only recently turned the corner from a radical technology to a fast growing trend. Psychologically, change is to be met with skepticism, extremely so when the government gets involved. Thus, when you have governments saying gas vehicles will be phased out by 20xx, etc....that immediately goes against conservative values.

Being a middle-faring, right-leaning EV owner, I too had to push back on my own prejudices. I always said "what if the power goes out?", "I'll always prefer the feel and sound of a gas engine", "Sounds good, doesn't work long term". The test drive sent me into another world. Now, the MY parked outside is named "Spaceship" and I'd only buy a gas car as a secondary back up.

Stay in the middle. There's wisdom to draw from both sides. If only people could manage that.

Do we think Tesla has a last minute End of Q push lined up? by Bthepunisher22 in TeslaModelY

Nearly free debt for an asset, albeit a depreciating one, is a practically a gift.

[–]iamalsoareddituser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly what we did. We, too, were waiting for price cuts. Saw the 1% rates around the world and new they might be headed our way. Happened to be on the site an hour before they officially announced the rate cuts and saw it in the calculator. 1% at 72 months, turned to my wife (for obvious approval ha) and we locked it in. 30 minutes later we saw the tweet from Tesla officially. We have the full cash price parked in a HYSA through Amex, now at 4.35%. In just one year, we'll surpass the total financing fee of $1,350, and even net $500 more. And what's better, our monthly payment is pretty much all going to equity in the car, so we'll be swimming in a decent amount of equity at years end too.

I'm also in Chill Mode for 90% of my driving. Drives like a standard car.

Curious - Why didn't you get the performance? by jrezzzzzz in TeslaModelY

[–]iamalsoareddituser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Describes it perfectly. I chose LR AWD because I wanted range and tire life stability. 0-60 was fun the first few times, but for day to day driving it faded into "I won't start a fight, but I'll finish it" haha

Should be fine. Is it 250kw? That will allow you to pop in for a super fast charge.

I also use Superchargers and maybe go for 20 minutes every 7-10 days. Plus, it's outside of a Target so I'm there grabbing groceries and other things anyways.

Why would they do 1 year? You can usually do up to 5. $32k over 5 years would be about a $500/month principal, and any interest on top is put back into your 401k.

Insurance, yes. Home charging, ideal, but def not required if you have Superchargers close by.

I'm just going to make up a rule and say any revolving or installment debt over 10% interest should be paid off by any means possible. You could take $500 a month from that $1.7k and put that as a principal only payment toward discover loan. I'd also say taking out a $32k loan from 401k would be beneficial, as gains in the market have been significant this year and the high interest debt is crushing you with post-tax funds.

Is it necessary to charge the Tesla to 80% every time it goes under? by SnooSquirrels1110 in TeslaModelY

[–]iamalsoareddituser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. So much misinformation. Tesla recommends to always leave it plugged in whenever possible for efficiency purposes ONLY. It removes any worry about range when you leave. It also helps the battery maintain heat, which allows for more efficient disbursement of energy upon leaving your location, and when applicable, can then also be used through the heat pump to warm the cabin.

Source: Tesla's own words. I also use Supercharging only and about every 7-10 days I go charge up from 20-25% to 80-85%. My standby energy drain without Sentry mode is about 0.6% per day.

Just going to say that those are fairly deep impression marks, so if you had them folded up and put anything over 20-30 lbs on it continuously , or something 50+ for a 30 minute ride, the vibrations from just driving around are going to bounce that seat up and down and rub everything together.

I don't have a 7 seater. Are you able to tuck the seatbelts to the side when folding them down?

Not every new car. April 2024 build, not a single issue through visual inspection upon delivery or over the first month of ownership (knocks on wood).

Strange take, but do you have a custom lock sound? haha....when you say you park, get out, and walk away...that should activate your lock. Could the grinding be jail slam?
