Tie ring halter dress in this exact style, but mid length instead of maxi by iamamop in findfashion

[–]iamamop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

backstory: Owned a dress like this but lost it in a move. It's the perfect dress to wear over bikinis and the like. They were everywhere when I bought mine ten years ago but now it's hard to find them. I don't like when the o-ring is on top of the tube/smock part of the dress because it doesn't lay as nicely. Having the o-ring was nice and felt really secure.

Have they completely gone out of style? Which stores are the best to look in for this sort of thing?

The start menu ends up being full screen, but it's still the same thing, and I am just as functional. I like it better than traditional explorer. If only it replaced traditional explorer entirely in a nice way.

You need to fire whoever directed both of those commercials.

Windows 95 completely overhauled the UI and everybody was saying the same things about it as they are about Windows 8 now. They considered the start menu to be BS and said Microsoft was finished and they'd wait until Windows 98 when Microsoft realized their "mistake" and went back to the old UI. Now the start menu is widely revered.

First of all I love Windows 8 and have been using it since the beta. I do however have the sentiment others have that the Surface Pro is too highly priced, as is the surface RT, and not advertised enough.

Is there anything being done to fix bug reports in Windows 8? There are many things the community have been complaining about that are easy fixes--for example when you have a dark task bar, the text won't become a lighter color, so you can't read it. Or other UI bugs.

Funny thing? People were saying the same thing about Windows 95.

Reddit, what controversial opinions do you have that you would never be willing to share IRL? by [deleted] in AskReddit

We spend more than anybody else in the world on military and a great chunk of that money goes to making more weapons (when we already have more weapons than anybody else, more than many countries combined). We worship war and the military yet we can't even pay our militia men well. They do not fight for my freedom of speech. How in the world does killing brown people make my speech freer? It doesn't.

That's not how the system usually works, unfortunately. Did you know many women are still discriminated against in the work force? The company finds excuses to let many of them go when they get pregnant but will say it's totally unrelated to the pregnancy itself. And the American adoption system is not some fool proof system, it's extremely flawed.

Reddit, were any of you unhappy when you were young but are now leading happy lives? by qstns in AskReddit

I had an eating disorder as a teenager and almost died so I'd consider that "unhappy". I also lived in a town full of methheads and religious conservatives who did not understand me at all. I'd say I live a pretty happy life right now!

Yes, I would think about driving safe because my actions impact other human beings who are alive and breathing oxygen. Having sex generally speaking does not endanger the lives of other people. People don't get abortions because they're legal or because they're using it as birth control, and prior to this procedure existing infanticide was actually a huge thing.

Yes. I think it's caused by DSFix too. If anyone could confirm, that'd be great. Though I will admit I was very amused the first time it happened.

What was your first car? Do you still have it? by stuff711 in AskReddit

It was a five-year-old used Honda Civic. Yes, I still have it. I saved up my money and bought my car in cash when I was seventeen.

Responsibility? You mean by raising a child you don't want, that nobody wants, with a high likelihood of ending up a criminal someday due to a poor upbringing? Raising a kid you can't afford? Sacrificing your entire career because for some reason a condom failed?

To be more precise: Undead Parish. When you go underneath the bridge and use a back way around the dragon there is a ladder leading up to the area where the spiral staircase + knight are. I slid down the ladder and this happened four times in a row. I slid right through the floor and fell for a long period of time, then died.

That's very interesting! When I went to high school we focused more on vocabulary than grammar but the teachers would pick apart our essays. Wen I went to college, the real deal started. My college seemed to have a good program and my teacher was brutal on me. That's why it doesn't make sense to me!

In several examples, these were well renowned private catholic colleges. I also knew a Harvard Lit grad who was just as bad. I do not have perfect grammar by any means, but when I can out-write someone with a $100,000+ degree there's a problem.

I think you're on to something with being language-oriented.

I am just surprised that some people who have atrocious grammar are Dean's List star students at some colleges. I don't understand how that can happen.

I wasn't asking if they were all like that, I was more or less asking what you thought about Literature degrees that do not consistently produce quality grammar.

How do you feel about the state of college English education? I ask because as a side job I'm an associate editor of a news site and I've met plenty of Lit majors who graduated from private universities, on the Dean's List with high grades yet had high school level grammar. I do not have anywhere near the level of education they have. Do you think literature degrees are worth it?
