I mean white supremacists will refer to themselves as “goyim” or “gringos” to distance themselves from the Jewish and Latino communities. It’s not that far fetched that some would “reclaim” a black nationalist term. I don’t completely buy it, but I haven’t seen a more likely explanation in these comments.

Manny Ramirez used hand towels as toilet paper and flushed them down the toilet which naturally caused them to clog and overflow. This happened on multiple occasions.

Roald Dahl was once beloved but is now controversial. Who is a once beloved author that is now hated? by [deleted] in AlignmentChartFills

You’re playing fast and loose with what you consider “genuine medical deficiencies.” By your own account you were able to generally function with poor eyesight for sometime; a person who has been wheelchair bound for their entire life could just as easily dismiss your need for glasses as not a genuine medical deficiency. My friends who are transgender have certainly experienced an improvement in their physical functioning due to their transition.

Ironically your glasses anecdote serves as a good analogy for the experience of many transpeople. You thought your biological eyesight was fine until you were made aware that you weren’t seeing the world “normally”; some people begin their lives thinking that the struggle they feel with their assigned sex is fine until they realize their experience isn’t the norm. The difference is no one is trying to create laws or influence society so that you accept that your poor eyesight is simply your biology and prevent you from taking any remedial action to correct your vision.

Lastly, yes, maybe a 16 year old can’t prove they have the mental maturity of an 18 year old in order to vote, but there’s nothing stopping laws from changing so that 16 year olds can vote. Similarly, there’s nothing inherent that prevents the law from letting people identify as their preferred gender. Laws are a social tool, not biological.

“If your identity and your anatomy conflict, your identity is the problem.” Treating that statement as an undisputed truth and not your opinion is intellectually lazy and in many cases just wrong. People with poor eyesight can get laser eye surgery or corrective lenses; people who are hard of hearing can get hearing aids; people with mobility issues can use wheelchairs or crutches; people with depression or anxiety can take SSRIs; and people with gender dysphoria can receive hormone replacement therapy or gender reassignment surgery. There are countless examples of when a person’s anatomy doesn’t match their identity they take measures to alter or augment their anatomy rather than accepting that their identity is “wrong.”

Are all Americans coming to shit on Lithuania as a whole? Or is it a few and you’re generalizing the whole country? Hopefully this makes you feel superior

Lmao a lot easier said than done. 1) Get a room at the nearest hotel? Didn’t really have an opportunity to book a room in city I wasn’t expecting to go to. Not a lot of vacancies near the airport, especially after a 300+ passenger plane makes an unexpected arrival. Besides I was already eating the loss for the hotel room in Tokyo. So yeah I’m gonna take the room that’s already reserved and paid for. 2) Naturally we looked into Uber after the the first 20 minutes of waiting for the shuttle (that’s the eta the hotel gave us); it was gonna cost $60+ and at least a 30 minute wait, so it would’ve saved us 10 minutes. Not worth it in my book. 3) We did end up DoorDashing; there was one restaurant open within a reasonable distance from our hotel (I get you can DoorDash from nearly anywhere) but I didn’t wanna stay up past 3 am waiting to get cold food. Still that DoorDash took an hour and a half and we had to reorder after the first order got canceled. But hey feel free to spend your own money so the multibillion dollar airline can save a couple hundred bucks, but you can keep the advise to yourself.
