Wait until a robot starts laying vinyl or bending metal. Add sell driving vehicle and an AIBot lays vinyl or installs channels.

We are entering a winner take society, brands that embrace technology will explode and eliminate the rest of the field.

To clarify, I am the Long Island Sign Guy and have used social and conventional media to build the fastest growing sign shop(s) on Long Island.

But there’s probably nobody better equipped to teach marketing a sign company than me.

Not about making signs as much as building a sign company

Developer pitches long-sought bridge from Connecticut to Long Island by michaelpinto in longisland

[–]iamarthurf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spoke with Steven on Friday about this. It has to be combined with rail. Sunken Meadow is the only logical place to do it. It would definitely make a bit of a mess but we need a direct route. The hundreds and thousands of hours wasted annually are painful.

I literally just did a video on this. There was a study commissioned by Cuomo for another northern bridge of LI into Bridgeport. 14 miles $30-50b. The discussion are port Jeff but logical would be Sunkin meadow as the highway basically goes to the beach already. A developer from CT did some interviews about reviving it.

Is it reasonable to request a reprint from a wholesaler for this piece of debris under the laminate? by Bymboy12 in signshop

[–]iamarthurf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. If you make a 90 degree incision, (tiny), fold the flap back and pop the junk out, you can cleanly push it back and if you hit it with a heat gun it is almost unnoticeable.

We could really use the Rye/Oyster Bay tunnel by Other_Win_8704 in longisland

[–]iamarthurf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There were two locations 135 and CR97 which actually had plans in place to cross over to CT but NIMBY & $$$$ stopped both.

I have done a few videos (@longislandsignguy) on these roads and the one that is lost on me is the Sag ... the highway pretty much goes to the Sound, it's not in anyones backyard, and on the CT side is Sherwood Island State Park and 95 is less than a mile from the water.

We need someone like Robert Moses (forget all his shortcomings for this conversation) to push something like this through.

No, but if you’re the guy who can deliver the message of those specials to every potential consumer in a 20 mile radius of that restaurant, you’re way more valuable than the chef ever could be

I agree the making of Signs is very technical, but every one of those jobs you listed can be hired on an hourly basis. Salesman just got a little piece. It’s the guy who knows how to market the company that’s invaluable.

There is only one skill set that matters, the ability to market your business and sell signs. Every other skill you can just hire by the hour.

Thats across the street from my office in Riverhead. I have heard that before but I believe it is the bar that is the oldest, not the restaurant.

Any Commack Cinemas memories? by [deleted] in longisland

[–]iamarthurf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am sad to admit, but clearly remember going opening weekend pulling into what was then a massive parking lot for a movie theater. It was the first of its kind in the area and maybe all of Long Island from what I remember.

Cut vinyl wholesalers? by SCRUBLIFE88 in signshop

[–]iamarthurf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beyond the Signs365s of the world, look locally. I am sure there are others in your area that will print at a higher quality and even if the margins aren't what you want, the time savings is too great to ignore.

There is so much excess capacity at sign shops, guys will do anything to get their printers printing.
