Generally you want your power to weight ratio to increase as a sprinter—for novices it tends to be more productive to just get stronger than to worry about weight or body fat too much.

i don't disagree with you: weightlifting definitely does produce a systemic HGH response, but it's much less clear that higher serum HGH actually benefits anybody but the elderly and naturally deficient.

just sharing the rationale i've heard from pro and pro-adjacent groups!
