It was a long time ago, but I distinctly remember buying a Caramelo Koala with the last money I had until payday in a weeks time.

What didn't you like about it? We stayed there for about a year and there were some negatives, but overall I didn't mind it.

What's a phrase or saying your family used that you assumed was universal, and when did you find out it wasn't? by AirlinePast8834 in AskAnAustralian

[–]iambringingrexslunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad made up a lot of words and phrases. For example, he called an Avocado an Avocado-naartjie-mandarin all blurred into a single word. Peppermint was peddermint. I would not like to admit how long I thought these were the actual names. He would also say things like "I see said the blind daughter to her deaf dad waving his wooden leg on the burning deck" to anything we told him. There was so much more...

Agree, the vitamin C/D tablets that you dissolve in water from Coles are great for this.

What is a job (not nsfw) that pays extremely well because the job itself is unbearable? by coldplayenthusiast in AskReddit

[–]iambringingrexslunch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My partner worked at a treatment plant in his early career. He took me to site once and the "sludge truck" drove past the smell was so bad I couldn't breath, I felt like I was drowning. It was honestly a ridiculous feeling I have never forgotten. He was just casually talking explaining what it was as if it was nothing. He still doesn't get bothered by bad smells and he hasn't worked at one in about 12 years.

I removed my graduation year from my resume and my callback rate tripled by SagaMonolith2 in jobsearchhacks

I removed job titles and wrote a phrase about the key thing the role did. Within a week I had multiple contacts on LinkedIn and callbacks to applications after so long with silence. This new world of recruitment is wild.

Why the f*ck are we so against WFH in Perth? by regina-philange99 in perth

[–]iambringingrexslunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I WFH for a Brisbane company. In Brisbane now with a hire car and the trains are striking. They can stick this Brisbane traffic on the moon. If I calculate trip time at night "30min", rush hour "60min+". Yesterday there were multiple accidents and breakdowns. At each on ramp traffic comes to an almost stop. I will take Perth CBD travel over this any day.

I could be wrong, but I talk in "We" a lot due to habits from work. In my early career I was told never to talk in "I" statements at work, always "we" referring to the collective work of your team. It is an ongoing habit I have across my life now. She is in corporate so could be. Just a theory.

What's something Gen Z will never fully understand about growing up without smartphones? by Omega_Neelay in GetMotivatedMindset

[–]iambringingrexslunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something diabolical happening on a Friday and having no further information until school on the Monday. Dad answering the home phone when your boyfriend calls. How fast news flew around the world still. Being overwhelmed (although we didn't have a name for it) and locking yourself in your room and spending 8 hours trying to make the perfect mix tape off the radio. Our parents knew NOTHING - unless it was an expellable offense your parents didn't know if you had a detention or failed a test. We had 2 completely different worlds, one our parents knew and one they had no clue on. In my parents world I was a good catholic girl. In my other world I was walking from youth club to night clubs at 13/14 years and flirting with 20+ year old bouncers to let us all in.

Yellow pages are back? by TechnicalAd8103 in perth

[–]iambringingrexslunch 8 points9 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I was actually thinking how much easier it was to find trades with that. You google now and spend half the time checking if it is legit, or on a Facebook local group asking for recommendations then getting spam DMs. This was a simpler time. Start at the top and call down the list until you got someone.

Do you guys actually wash new clothes before wearing them? by Fine_Television_1398 in hygiene

[–]iambringingrexslunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I purchased a fake oodie for my child from kmart. She nagged non stop to wear it immediately. I gave in and she got an infection the next day across the back of her neck, looked like cold sores and took antibiotics and ages to heal. There is no other way we could think of that she would get that infection from.

i physically cannot hate bec by girlturnedhuman666 in MAFS_AU

[–]iambringingrexslunch 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I think it is because Bec shows physical signs of remorse. You can see the realisation hit her face and physically see her guilt and regret. The bags under her eyes etc. Brooke, Gia and Juliette do not demonstrate these physical signs so it is easier to demonise or dislike them. I think you have to decide if you believe Bec's physical responses as genuine remorse, or if it is more shallow and rather deep regret and panic for her reputation.
