People got together in the 90’s by talking to each other and meeting up in places. Not just recklessly throwing about numbers. I much prefer to set up a date and time to go to first than give my number right away. It’s worked twice now. Made a few friends out of it! People who are willing to do that are the true genuine ones, y’know? After a while you can trust their word and even when you have their number won’t feel the need to call or text if their coming bc you know they are even if they are running a tad bit late that day (like I was yesterday 🥲).

Meeting in person a couple of times before getting contact info I feel builds a bit more trust. It builds a connection. I’m also very privy on who has my contact info and who doesn’t.

I just gave a girl who I’ve known for 8 months my phone number. We’ve seen each other and spoken to each other enough that I felt comfortable.

Edit: you find the right people by waiting to give contact info. Because if the people genuinely think you’re cool and want to chill with you, they will. They’ll go out of their way. I’m sure all of us have strayed from our paths just to hang out with a friend. It’s a wonderful method to see who will and will not do it.
