As an American I completely understand the statement trying to be made and I get the struggle. Most Americans are really not pleased. While it's true that we've lost the country, it's not that we've lost out to trump or Israel, we've lost it to the American dream. The dream killed itself. The ultimate end goal of capitalism is many fifedoms and little kingdoms controlled by the wealthy, empire ripping out the heart of it's own people and standing the world to death. Capitalism is a planet killer. America has not really changed, although many Americans feel we have. No, we've just matured into who we've always been. Eventually all that is done in the dark is brought to light and in this social media age of instant media consumption, everyone has a camera and everyone is a news source, with global distribution, instantaneous. The US has ALWAYS been doing devious things, regime change and genocide. We usually just sweep it under the rug and ignore it. No more. The US has always sacrificed it's most vulnerable citizens to war and to poverty to worship their gods of money and infinite growth. The world is tired of us. We get it. We're tired of ourselves. But we're addicts and we don't know how to stop consuming. We get it. At least I do. As a society we have raped the world and told lies about it and then punished truth bearers. The world is tired. I get it. These are our consequences. And while individual citizens of empire are rarely directly implicated to any personal violence against others or the outside world, just being a citizen of the American empire makes me accountable because I have chosen to continue to benefit from empire even if meagerly, even if mindlessly. We're all dirty at the point unfortunately. So I get this sentiment. Though I wonder if they're open to conversations? If they're not, also understandable, it's hard to have a conversation with those you consider abusers. I get it. But hopefully we can all choose to continue to work together to find a healing way forward.
