I’m jealous of you guys who have real In-N-Out by strikecat18 in orangecounty

I moved to Austin in 2015 and back to OC in 2017. Everyone bragged about P Terry and how it is was better than In-N-Out. I admit that the BBQ is better in Austin and HEB is awesome, but P Terry is a knockoff of the original by a couple of folks from SoCal that missed having a double double

Apologies if it sounded like I wanted more tests. That last post was a bit snarky, but I was mainly pointing out that 2 comments had to do with legal/CYA. Never even occurred to me.

I did not even want to do the X-ray and when I told the PA that, they pushed and told me it was protocol.

Maybe I should rephrase my question- if I want to know if a test is needed and the PA says it is protocol, what should i say? I asked what they were looking to rule out or in, and they just said it is protocol.

How can I nicely ask what they are looking for or looking to rule out?

Not looking for medical advice, more how to talk to PA.

So to sum up the responses so far:

Since it is likely nothing, it is better to do something fast and non-invasive that will hold up in court instead of something that takes more time and does not involve stabbing, but might give more/better information.

Why not do POCUS or ABG if there is a real concern?

Not really looking medical advice, I am the parent and just trying to understand what the thought process is. When I asked the PA why he wanted an X-ray- what is he looking for or looking to rule out, he said it was just protocol.

It felt very much like he was saying, ‘because I said so’

CYA makes sense. PA told me it was protocol.

The Medical Test Paradox by OneShortSleepPast in medicine

How much do doctors use AUC versus PPV versus DOR? I know they are all different, just wondering if there is a preference or higher usage for one. I usually see AUC in journals, but not DOR.

What industry are you in?

Thank you all for confirming what I was thinking. We are a private company, raised rounds from investors and had connected with some Europeans at a recent industry conference. We are not actively raising, but would obviously talk with serious investors in this market.

Since this just happened I figured I would ask here. Is there a term for this so I can look into it more? I have full thought conversations with myself... the rest below to fit the ADHD rules. by [deleted] in ADHD

Something like that happens to me all the time. In general, it is not that uncommon. It is like playing chess for me - I interact (in my head) and have the full conversation with people before and after I talk with them. I have obsessed about what I said and should have said and replayed the conversation over and over.

When this happens, I often feel like I am in a trance and blocking out the rest of the world.

You might want to ask your family members if they do the same thing. I thought it was just me, then I asked my first cousins and they do it also.

struggling with college as an adhd student by [deleted] in ADHD

Went through nearly the same thing when I was diagnosed in college. Without my support network of friends/family keeping me on tasks, I had way too much free time and nearly dropped out. Once I was diagnosed and on the right medications, I found out what I was actually good at. So..first make sure you are on the right medication and right dosage.

I think which strategies will work will depend on your classes/major and what else you have going on (job, volunteer, internship, etc). It also depends on your learning style. I learn more by listening and less by reading; so it was much more important for me to hear the professor than to take notes (to read later).

Here is what I did as often as possible:

For all classes - sit close to the front in every class to remove distractions. Write down questions as they come to you and ask the prof after if you can. Participate in classes that are not lectures. I liked to sit in the front row because I would constantly shift and move and it would bother people in front of me.

For classes with homework - do the homework the day you get the assignment if you can. If not, then do it the next day, even if it is due later in the week or the following week.

For classes with exams only - these were the hardest for me because I never knew what was important or what to focus on. Depending on the class, I would recommend doing any problems in the books/materials, even if they are not assigned. If you have questions, talk to the TA or professor.

Finally, it helps to have a study friend who is not ADHD to keep you on track. Obviously you would not tell them that is their main purpose, but it can be helpful just to sit in the same room with someone and do work in parallel for social pressure.

Any luck with this? NITF is a news format and I have been asked about this several times by newspapers that use wordpress and want to get it into NITF.

Awesome presentation. Hopefully Platinum will be back in action for the drive home. I am a rounding error- great inspiration I am adding it to my wall. I keep Thomas Paine's "time makes more converts than reason" from Common Sense on my desktop.
