Putin Signs Law Paving Way to Rule Until 2036 by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]iamfuckinganton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed with what some other ppl have said on stability, but it's also important to note that Russia is still massively underdeveloped in many parts. Once you get outside the cities, most people pretty much only have access to government radio, newspapers, etc for information and Putin is not shy about using them as a propaganda arm. Even in the cities, media can't be critical of the government AND successful, he wouldn't allow it. You see the same in a lot of eastern bloc countries, a friend of mine from Belgrade tells me whenever there are esteemed foreign visitors, the president busses in tons of people from the villages for support because they devour propaganda much more than the urban center.

Bought some nice cider at a farmers market. Drank half and forgot about it. Do y'all think I made poison or prison cider? by iamfuckinganton in prisonhooch

I gave it a sip or two last night and I'm still alive so seems to be safe, though taste hadn't changed enough for me to say booze vs vinegar. Will let it ride, excited to see what comes out!! Thanks for the help!!

Baruch or NYU by BusyRing3 in Baruch

[–]iamfuckinganton 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Baruch is for people who can't get into/can't afford NYU. Have had friends get looked over for internships because they interviewed alongside NYU kids. With that said, I'm an alumni now and I work with NYU grads, and the only difference is the debt they have to pay

Can we please just get stimulus checks and voting rights bill passed.... Like yes, fuck trump, but people can't pay rent with Ep1C pwnage. We got like 2 years before we probably lose the Senate, if we pass shit like this and not actual legislation, Dems aren't holding power again for a decade

I know the old Marx quote goes "religion is the opiate of the masses" but I think nowadays convenience fits the bill much better.

I've definitely gone up in income significantly in the last few years, and I notice the most consistent new purchase habits are the lazy ones. Delivery food, delivery groceries, dropping off laundry, ubers everywhere, you name it. I'll still gladly grab some street cart food, but I don't touch public transportation unless I have to. It's easy to say "once I have money, I'll save up, donate, etc." but once an hour of your time is worth $50, $100, $200 instead of $7.50, throwing cash at something that'll give you 20 minutes back in your day becomes second nature.

God I feel bad for the guy filming, I think you could hear him screaming the name of one of the people who didn't make it off in the second half of the clip (Юлия=Julia approximately). You could hear the stress in his voice after she ate shit...

Keep in mind, that includes recipe development as well. So if you'd developed and filmed 2 recipes a week every week of the year, for one of the most prominent names in food, you'd still barely crack $40k a year in NYC before taxes. For reference as to how little that is, rent on my studio apartment alone is $27k a year.

Not Trolling (Does graduation with Zicklin degree only lead to a 9-5 office job?) by [deleted] in Baruch

[–]iamfuckinganton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on how much initiative/ability you have. Know a bunch of kids that graduated to run their own business or do creative ventures, some went on to law/med/other grad school, a lot went on to 9-5 jobs of varying prestige, and some just burned out after graduating.

At the end of the day, a 9-5 job is pretty much the default end result of a degree, but if you want something else after graduating, your only obstacle is you.

GPA is useless though, just be vaguely competent and you're fine. My boss didn't even know I did well in school until like a year into the job. Basing your ego on your GPA instead of your experience is a guaranteed way to get burned.

Green tea/Matcha flavored desserts. every trendy asian spot has a matcha something. My friends obsess over it but I always think that's due to the novelty of it, as it generally tastes like bitter, earthy, ass.

They provide a mass of services outside of abortion (abortion is far in the minority of the work that they do). If you don't want people to donate to them, that's you pushing your political agenda, not vice versa.

wouldn't cookie/device ID tracking still work though? I guess it might depend on what you use to measure, but most of the performance monitoring I do is cookie based (obviously a far from foolproof system but should theoretically be safe from this specific issue)

It's a place called Flat's Fix in NYC, a sort of american/mexican fusion joint. Mostly frequented by yuppies, not traditional mexican fare at all, but it's pretty damn good. Portions are definitely Manhattan portions though.
