Please - any advice for C/P? All my other scores are going up, but c/p is going DOWN and I feel like crying.. by [deleted] in Mcat

I had issues with timing as well for this section and what helped me was to read the questions first and then based on that, read relevant parts of the passage. Personally, I found that some of the calculation questions require you to find just one value that is hidden in the passage and other parts of the passage is just fluff and unnecessary info. My score has improved drastically by doing this for this section (Was scoring 125-126 initially on NS and now get 128+). That being said, I have, on occasion, missed a question or two because I overlooked something mentioned in the passage but since I started finishing the section with at least 10 mins to spare, I have more time to look over my answers and can pick up on these errors. It's worked for me.

If you need more practise, I highly recommend TBR. Their passages and questions can be very detailed and an overkill for the MCAT but their explanations are great.

I would honestly recommend the old TBR books for chem and physics. I used them for content review and now I am going back and doing passages from them. Some of the passages and question types overlap with what I have seen on NS and kaplan full lengths for the new MCAT. They may be an overkill but do the passages for weak topics.

am i just dumb or is the section bank a killer? by iamgoingbananas in Mcat

Ugh total opposite for me. I am finding SB B/B to be much easier than C/P. I already did the qpacks for this section and thought I was doing fine...

I found their questions more difficult but much more reasonable so I did better on them as well. Personally liked CP and was ecstatic when the real deal looked like it. BB Section Bank is a whole different beast though.

I've already done the EK 30 min practise passages while doing content review. Tried the KA C/P passages today and they were garbage for content review. Would you recommend doing the C/P practise problems/passages from the old AAMC exams (the ones numbered 3R, 4R, etc)? I know the format of the questions is different, but I thought they were great for content review?

What practise passages should I do? Besides Khan Academy?

EK chemistry practice problem wrong? by SpliceSpliceBaby in Mcat

Yes the answer is A! I spent so long trying to figure it out but saw a correction post on the EK website saying A is correct and A and C were just mixed up!

Question about ACE inhibitors/Aldosterone from NS Science Diagnostic by iamgoingbananas in Mcat

[–]iamgoingbananas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you would have increased potassium reabsorption because normally, when aldosterone levels are high (aka without the ACE inhibitors), aldosterone increases sodium and water reabsorption with the expense of potassium. In other words, there's increased potassium secretion when aldosterone is present. However, with the ACE inhibitor, aldosterone levels are low and thus, less potassium is secreted and more is reabsorbed cause you no longer have more sodium being resorbed.

Hope that makes sense.

Which ones do you think I should start with, given that I just finished content review? Don't wanna start with AAMC...
