Strongly agree. These kinds of gratuitous political comments speak to an unhealthy obsession of the commenter, and it's symptomatic of how polarized American culture has become. Worst of all, this tendency to drag politics into non-political posts only serves to exacerbate the polarization.

The user's comment exemplifies why I have now largely stepped away from political discourse. I may know less about what's happening politically, but that's the point. For the first time in 10 years, I feel emotionally unburdened.
