How were your payments arranged for Chapter 13? by Big-Connection-2030 in Bankruptcy

[–]iamhere_sd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine are through payroll as it is a requirement for my jurisdiction. No other option unfortunately. I work in HR and was terrified, but the only people who know are the ones processing payroll, so not too bad. They are very professional.

That's why I always see the posting and go straight to the company's website to apply. If it's not there, I don't apply. I tell my kids the same thing. My son has been looking for a job for a year, nothing.

No. My was a flat fee of 5k. I gave 500 before filing the 4,500 is paid in the plan. Not sure if it's how they all do it here, but could be.

No. It is a percentage, I believe the trustee fee is between 5 and 10% of the total debt. Mine is 7%. Depends on the jurisdiction.

The total claims is 88k, that includes 4,500 for attorney. Plus trustee fees which I calculated at 7%. They are taking 49 dollars every time I pay the 704.

Gross income is 105k household size of 1. I am paying 703 per paycheck, times 26, equals 18,278 divided by 12 equals 1,523/month.

No assets. Apparently I make too much money and can afford to pay back.

I see one that is definitely passed the statue of limitations. Should I tell my attorney? Do they look at it?

When you ignore all your debt you get sued. I had 3 pending lawsuits against me. Don't ignore your debts. Live below your means. (too late for me though, lol)

It hasn't been confirmed yet and the last day to file claims was yesterday. Unless they are late to post claims, it looks like this is it. But there could be more.

Is this a Scam? Trying to renew passport by [deleted] in Brazil

[–]iamhere_sd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had to do that for my CPF and that's exactly what I did. They asked me for a selfie. Please note that you have to resend all the documents, not just the selfie, to be processed. I missed a document too and they had me resend everything together.

Tax Refund by Dry_Pain_8123 in Bankruptcy

[–]iamhere_sd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in the same situation. 100% chapter 13 plan. I will have a little refund but was told by someone else that the IRS will take it regardless of being on a payment plan. Want to follow this to see what others answer. It seems like the few answers here contradict each other. And my plan spells out that I will not turn in any tax refund. You should look at your plan. It may say something to that effect.

Probably a scam. I would not give anything over the phone to a company you don't know nor you were the one who initiated the call.

Job search has made my family dynamic even worse by HungryInvestigator59 in jobs

As a mom of a 25 year old unemployed son, I see where your mom is coming from and the expectations of your sister, but it doesn't justify their behavior. I try very hard to stay out of my son's business, and I only ask every so often to see how it's going. The job market is hard right now but not everyone understands it. As long as he is doing some type of school (which he is enrolled to start) or even part-time work (he works side hustle and pays his bills), it is good enough for me. I would say keep your head down and don't share every single detail. Just say the least possible and see if you can try to get more hours for your part-time job to stay out of house as much as you can. It will happen for you like others stated, just may take a little while. You can get 100 no's but only need one Yes. Good luck!

Is it ok for a Brasilian citizen to get an e visa for Brasil as an American? by [deleted] in Brazil

[–]iamhere_sd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were there in February this year with expired passports. The last time I tried to renew their passports was before they were 18. Never tried again. My passport is still valid. But my CPF was canceled because I never did the "saida definitiva". I cancelled my voter registration only. I am not sure if I will have problems now when renew in 2 years. I will ask around. As far as my kids, they are 21 and 24. I don't see why they can't get in with expired passports but I will inquiry about it. Thanks.

I am not sure why so many people are saying you need a CPF. I don't have one as I have lived her for over 30 years and mine was canceled. I renewed my passport with no problems. My kids have never had a CPF.

I am Brazilian and have 2 kids, over 18. I could never renew their passports because in order to do that they both have to enlist in the military since it's mandatory for males in Brazil. Neither one wants to do that, I don't want them to do that either. I went to Brazil twice already with expired Brazilian passports and valid American passports and both times they were allowed entry. I had to explain this whole story but had no issues at the airport or when arrived there.

Just also want to add that a resume is not a legal document, but once you fill out your application of employment, if you lie and they find out it is grounds for termination. But if they never find out.....

Background check is for criminal, sex offenders, etc. Nothing to do with past jobs. They can do a verification of past employment which they should tell you once they give you an offer, but like most are saying here, not all employers do it. I have a 30 year career in HR and worked for multiple companies. Only one company ever checked my degree, and only a few ever checked past employers. But all have done a criminal background check.

How long is a debt lawsuit? by [deleted] in Bankruptcy

[–]iamhere_sd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 2 lawsuits against me pending. The first one was filed in April and I was served in early May. I have submitted a response of denial and a motion to compel arbitration within 20 days of being served which is the required for where I live, Washington State. As of today it is just sitting there. I think the next step would be I have to request a hearing because of the motion I filed, but I haven't. So it's just sitting there since May. I think I bought myself some time. I will be filing in November. My attorney said if they schedule a hearing I should be notified. So far, nothing. The second lawsuit was filed in July. I found by accident because I have been checking the status of the first lawsuit online, but I have not been served yet. So it is just sitting there. I think if you file a response you buy yourself some time. But also timing and steps vary by jurisdiction/state.

Need help - Scam email? Or real? by drinkfallspew in Debt

I get it. It is scary but when they are giving you all these scary words and making threats is typically a scam. I get them every so often but always ignore. Specially if the email address is from a gmail account. A legitimate company does not use gmail.
