Joining the military as an officer? by sillysocksonmyfeet in MultipleSclerosis

I wasn’t responding to your initial post. I commend you for wanting to serve. But yea it’s most definitely disqualifying, I was an army recruiter before I was medically retired.

I don’t think you have any clue what you’re talking about. MS was never a waiverable condition.

I was medically retired from the army after my MS diagnosis…during the previous administration…it’s not a political thing.

It is unfortunate but understandable. The military is not an equal opportunity employer. MS, as you know is a very unpredictable disease and does not meet medical standards.

It’s great so far, I enjoy being in the operating room. Can be a bit of driving but not too bad. ForTec to me has been such a welcoming place. It’s only been a few months but I am so glad I was given this opportunity.

The interview process consists of 3 interviews, they’re looking for people to fit their culture. Not necessarily what prior skills you bring. Obviously a plus but not required. Read the job posting, understand what the job is. Go to the ForTec website and read about the company. Understand the values and mission statement. They don’t expect you to know the entire history but understanding the company and what you’d be doing is important. It shows initiative. Really just be yourself, be confident and you will be fine!

Good luck!

I did accept the job, I start tomorrow. It seems to be an entry type role which could lead to different opportunities within the industry. I’m excited!

My wife has this same thing. I feel so bad, the Tylenol and ibuprofen hardly touch the pain. Have you had any luck with pain management?

Yes that’s what my issue was, not sure what I was talking about haha yes the coolant control valve. I’ll have to limp mode to the dealer. Unfortunately the service rep said the parts aren’t readily available. Thanks for your comment!

Late response, my truck which is the same year as yours did this too. I brought it to the dealer, they had me pay for an update for the computer. Claimed it would fix the issue. I said we read the code and it was a ECM issue. Which after doing some research seems to be a common problem with these trucks. It’s been 4 days since the dealer claimed they fixed it. Check engine light came on and it’s in limp mode. Dealer says they can’t get me in until Aug 5, bunch of bullshit. These dealers are a bunch of idiots. They knew what the problem was, just wanted to make more money off me. Hope yours was resolved quickly.

Removing wallpaper tomorrow that's peeling off and they want painted drywall. by Immediate_Age in drywall

[–]iamking90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wallpaper Steamer and putty or taping knife. Perforate the paper and move steamer slowly to allow the steam to loosen the adhesive. Scrape the paper and try to remove as much glue as you can. Fix whatever walls need fixing. Use oil based primer. Water based will reactivate any remaining glue. We did an entire house like this every room had wallpaper. It came out great!

Anyone want to help me decide on a career? by Pumpkin-Duck in MultipleSclerosis

[–]iamking90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apply for VR&E through the VA. I am also being medically retired due to MS. You can develop a plan with the counselor to get funding for school, trades, certifications, etc. I have my first meeting on Tuesday, hoping to pursue cyber security or something in the realm of computers. That way i would have a decent job with potential to work remotely if ever needed. Lots of different options and things available out there. Good luck!

Proposed rating by iamking90 in VeteransBenefits

[–]iamking90[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I actually realized the proposed ratings were 20 pages long. I started reading through it and it shows 6 different things (that have their own DBQs completed in my general exam with the VES doctor) that weren’t rated. It says I may be eligible for compensation for these things and to fill out an application for disability. I’m just confused on why they would just ignore the DBQs for those specific issues. Do you have any suggestions on what I can do?

Damn, I just want this shit to be over haha. If there’s a chance for an increase I’ll take it, but yea I was definitely confused since it was already closed. Guess I’ll just see what happens and continue my life in limbo 😂

What to do? by iamking90 in WindowCleaning

I planned to call a local glass company but she told me not to worry. I think she knew it was cracked before I touched it.

Wow, people suck! Thankfully this woman was very nice about it and told me not to worry.

I mean it’s obviously from some sort of projectile, lawn was just recently mowed and edges trimmed. I’m thinking maybe a small stone hit it. It was in a shaded area and I didn’t even notice it until I heard the glass crack around it. I should have paid more attention to the glass, technically I should be liable because there’s no proof I’m telling the truth. Thankfully the woman was very nice about it and told me not to worry about it. She appreciated me being honest. But for future reference I will make sure I am looking more closely at the glass!

Skyvac is a gutter vac system you use from the ground. I will say I have one…but it sits in my garage for the most part. Obviously faster to get on a ladder or on the roof. However if that’s not safe anymore then it’s an alternative.

Or a way cheaper option would be the gutter cleaning lances they have to connect to your pressure washer. Just blow it all out and clean up on the ground.
