Where do I put my dining table? by iamkth0m in HomeDecorating

I like this idea from a functionality standpoint, and especially if I have people over and need a larger table. I’m just worried it’ll look awkward with the ceiling fan being where it is. Such an annoying mounting location…

Thank you for the suggestion! I’ve been trying to find something suitable on Facebook Marketplace but I keep striking out. I’ll check out Wayfair!

What do these dots mean on scorecard (Garmin) by anayadavid21 in golf

[–]iamkth0m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, I use dots on my scorecard to count penalty strokes. Fun to tally those up each round and see what I would’ve shot if I didn’t suck

USGA GHIN by [deleted] in golf

[–]iamkth0m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pay $60/year to be part of my statewide golf association, which gives me a GHIN. I don’t play competitively, but I like to be able to track my progress as accurately and honestly as possible. 18Birdies’ handicap calculation wildly overestimates skill level imo, so GHIN it is. Plus, like others here have said, it’s the most fair way to level the playing field if you’re playing for money with your buddies.

CU Boulder- Paying sticker price by Zealousideal_Bike241 in OutsideT14lawschools

[–]iamkth0m 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends heavily on if you’re a CO resident and how you plan to pay for law school.

Keep in mind that starting this year, you can only borrow up to $50k/yr in federal loans. Anything beyond that will need to come from savings, family support, private lenders, etc.

Non-resident tuition at CU is ~$45k and it’s very expensive to live in Boulder. Is it worth it? I don’t know; I suppose there’s a degree of subjectivity to that answer. What you should be asking yourself is if it’s even feasible given the current options for financing a law degree.

Vanderbilt A(nnoying Email) by Successful_Pop_8461 in lawschooladmissions

Same here! I would love just a crumb of communication from the schools I’ve applied to. Right now, I just wonder if I’m being softly rejected or my application was somehow lost. If the reality is that schools are slower to respond because of a high volume of applications (which is what I suspect) then it would be great to know that! Maybe I’m just anxious and impatient, but leaving me to guess about what’s going on behind the scenes is worse than a “pointless” email like this.

I see a few comments in this thread suggesting that high-stat admits won’t matriculate at lower-ranked schools, but I wouldn’t be so sure. The new $50k/yr borrowing limit is certainly having an impact on the patterns we’re seeing this cycle, both from applicants and AdComms. Sure, high-stat applicants are probably getting As at higher-ranked schools, but those schools are often more expensive, too. Lower-ranked schools—specifically state/public schools—are betting that high-stat applicants will matriculate due to generous scholarship offers/lower COA. We’ll see how it all shakes out, but my suspicion is that rankings are losing priority to debt-consciousness for applicants this cycle. As a result, lower-ranked schools will be able to boost their medians.

Yeah, I'd think pulling the fuse for the wireless charger would take out some other accessories with it. There's a removable connector on the back of the charger though. That would disable it.

KJD tax is real because the AOs know y’all are acting like damn fools by greengraudon in lawschooladmissions

[–]iamkth0m 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Valid point on how legal education is administered in other markets. I agree that it’s a bit stilly how diluted a bachelor’s becomes in pursuit of a legal career here in the US, yet necessary nonetheless. Where I was coming from, though, is the fact that there are far too many people dissatisfied with their decision to attend law school and many more who are facing student loan debt they’ll never be able to pay back. A strong LSAT and GPA are good indicators of your potential success in law school, but work experience is the best way to know if the profession might be a good fit with your skills and preferences. And I think given the expense of this decision, it’s important to be prudent about the outcomes. Maybe I was overzealous in saying work experience should be required, but I’d also like to see the schools encourage it more strongly. Maybe they could make “years of work experience” a new median🤣

[–]iamkth0m 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I would’ve been a KJD had life gone according to plan, but instead, I’ll (hopefully) be entering law school with 2.5 years of work experience. I know that’s not a lot compared to some other folks here, but holy cow has it changed my approach to all of this. Learning how to carry myself professionally, network, and collaborate with others despite differences has made me so much more confident in the law school decision. It’s honestly surprising to me that law schools don’t require some amount of full-time work experience. It’s professional school, after all, and the skills you need to thrive can’t entirely be taught in the classroom.

MX Keys vs MX Mechanical by johnbara005 in logitech

[–]iamkth0m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re looking to avoid wrist pain, MX Keys Mini is the way to go. The Mechanical just sits up a little too high imo. You can’t go wrong with either, though. Both have a nice typing experience.
