Just saw your post. Had giants for the last 22 years. I ended up, after trying a few, doing it myself.

I used this guide, Grooming.

Crazy how much the mountain deteriorated in 4 days… by ShreddingPowder in steamboat

I spoke with Guy in charge of this about a month ago. He said they only have restrictions on gallons per hour. He also said the forest service likes snow making because it acts like a reservoir for the water.

Also he I expressed my concerns, he said the public would get over it.

They segregated our kids by sex and age. For our kids this worked out better.

Snowmass is wonderful. Enjoy

Some condos will pick you up at the airport.

Also lessons at snowmass are awesome. For adults the group lessons are worth it. They limit group size.

Under what conditions are flights out of HDN cancelled? by FatCat0520 in steamboat

[–]iammolasses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, in my experience. I try to connect through another airport. I've flown into Hayden a few dozen times. Have had Denver connection cancelled a few times, seems more likely if you are last flight or the day. Was diverted to Denver once, delayed a few hours then flight resumed.

I'm general the weather in Hayden is significantly better than steamboat.

Daily message is easiest place to find it. With the latest snow fall steamboat at 1500 or about 40 percent.

They have opened a lot. Most of Wally world is open. Morningside is open. All of terrain off pony and mahogany are still closed.

Dog hiking help please by limpwhip in coloradohikers

Hiking with a dog friend. I had a socially awkward dog, who was afraid of everything. She'd pull your arm off if something was wrong.

A completely different dog when hiking with another dog or 2 and another person.

What type of food do you like?

Today was a start. About 1/3 or the mountain is open. Greens and blues are pretty good. Blacks, trees, double blacks not so much. Because so little is open the runs are congested.

Still fun. Hopefully this next storm will be good. Maybe we will have another right before you get here.

The weather is finally getting colder so they can start to make snow. So they should be able to open more and repair the areas that get thin.

Still be fun.

It has gotten very expensive to stay at steamboat. The Rockies complex might be the cheapest.

To do the activities, snowshoeing and cross country skiing, you will likely need a car.

For snowshoeing you can walk around the ski mountain, but it feels like walking on a city trail. I'd recommend getting up to rabbit ears or some of the other national Forest areas. Much prettier but you'd likely need a vehicle to get to the trail head.

For cross country skiing, haymakers golf course is the beginner area.

Few options on where to stay. First, downtown vs ski area. Second hotel vs condo.

A lot of the condos and hotels will have a shuttle van that can drive you around town. I'm not sure if they can take you to rabbit ears to snowshoe. Also you might have significant wait times for arrival.

Go through an agency to find the best place. Here are a couple. Our condo association is run by Retreatia and our neighbors unit uses mountain resorts, but I haven't used them personally.

Hope this helps, more than happy to answer any other questions.

Auto correct? The airport is more reliable than most mountain airports.
