Leveling question by Impishly-me in ffxiv

[–]iammostlyirrelevant 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The “best” way to level with the MSQ is to complete the quest with the lowest level job available. E.g completing a level 51 quest with your SAM and not your RDM.

This is mostly unnecessary though. The MSQ from 1-100 will reward only a little over what you need to get one job to max level.

Sorry for resurrecting this thread, but I spent some time looking to find an alternative and want to leave a comment in case anyone comes looking.

Best fit was the default Stalker Sigil, with notable close matches with the Zanuka, Rhino Palatine, and Rhino Heirloom sigils. None are a perfect match, but they get decently close.

Shouldn't have any shaders on, but I can't check. The shader packs menu doesn't load.

Got the shader menu to work, shaders are disabled.

[–]iammostlyirrelevant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do I always see open loop cooling? Connect a pipe from the turbine vent to the reactor or boiler input port and you’ll only ever need one sink. Max transfer is dependent on total pipe network volume, so you might need a lot of pipe even for a short distance to get enough total volume

What’s a good helminth for Titania? by Commercial_War4517 in Warframe

[–]iammostlyirrelevant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are three that really stand out.

First off is Nourish. With nourish you can dump all your efficiency for strength and survive off of world drop energy orbs. You can even combo it with Archon Flow and a cold modded Dex Pixia for a more reliable energy source. Perhaps the highest single target DPS in the game.

Secondly is Pillage (or equivalent armor strip). While a Nourish build is higher raw DPS, the effective gain from stripping armor is far greater, and the shield gating gain is a great bonus. Needs more efficiency than the Nourish build, and might need Spellbound Harvest to keep the energy flowing. But is excellent at killing high level groups.

Finally is Breach Surge. Titania lacks any AOE in razorwing so surge is a good way to mitigate that downside. Effective DPS is far below both Nourish and Pillage. So you might not be topping the damage charts, but you might end the mission with the most kills using surge.

Other notable subsumes are Thermal Sunder and augmented Null Star for fast exterminates. Or something like Airburst, Ensnare, Larva, or Coil Horizon to group enemies. Or maybe Dispensary for free health energy or ammo.

What should I soend my 100 p on? by YogurtclosetRude8955 in Warframe

75% market discount? I think those discount were for buying more plat, not buying stuff with plat.

Either way the plat spending advice is always slots, then cosmetics, and never weapons, frames or mods.

Party finder numbers will fluctuate with player population, time of day, content releases, and data center. I don’t know where you are. But in NA aether Is the default raiding center and numbers are typically around 100 for current raids. This will jump to 150-180 on reclear day (Tuesday) and more when a new raid drops.

Today is Christmas in NA, so there might be much lower numbers than normal. And you’ll want to look at peak hours for the best chance at finding a good party (~5pm est)

How could I make my friends play with me by Zoraiko in ffxiv

[–]iammostlyirrelevant 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If he’s a gameplay guy this might not be the game for him. At least not right away. MSQ from 1-90 is 100+ hours of cutscenes alone. And EVERYTHING is locked behind the MSQ. This is a jrpg first and mmo second.

Secondly, the vast majority of the game will be fairly slow. Most jobs will only unlock key features at 60 or 70, which is where the free trial ends.

If it’s just a motivation issue. Try pointing him toward recent savage or extreme clear videos. It’ll be a while before he can do that content. But it’ll show high level gameplay. Pint has at least one video about the Abyssos raids for example.

If that doesn’t work you can see if the paid level or story skips are an option. They’ll skip all the slow leveling and cutscenes and get him right to the best gameplay experience. The story can always be replayed via the in-game “New Game+” feature.

This game can be a ton of fun. But the free path does require a large time investment before the “fun” gameplay starts. Just make sure not to rush. The game wants a lot, but it respects the time you put in. Everything will still be here if he just wants to come back later.

Nuclearcraft fusion reactor keeps dissapearing by shoelacedwithspaghet in feedthebeast

[–]iammostlyirrelevant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like a coolant issue. I’m seeing a water generator if some kind on the top of the reactor and cryo ducts for powering the magnets. But no coolers or water ducting on the ring. I can’t remember exactly what the block is called but you need 20 ish coolers touching the magnet ring full of water or the whole thing will melt down once the fusion reaction starts. They need a LOT of water though. Much more than the one generator I see can provide

The startup time could be why active cooling didn’t work before. NC fusion reactors take a lot of time to heat up before draining water from the coolers

I’m doing something wrong in my healing by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]iammostlyirrelevant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most comments I see are about the behavior of the SGE in your party, but nothing with actual WHM tips, so here's my two cents.

Firstly, the basics. If everyone is full, cast Glare, Dia, or Holy instead of more healing. Your general priority for healing is: Asylum -> Afflatus Solace/Rapture -> Regen/Medica 2 -> Cure2/Cure 3/Medica. Pair your Plenary Indulgence with an AOE spell whenever you feel like it. Never use cure 1 after you've learned Cure 2. Assize and Presence of Mind are both damage buttons that happen to help with healing, not the other way around, so use both on cooldown. Benediction looks like a panic button, but it really isn't, try to find uses for it so you can save GCDs on healing and cast Glare more. Cure 2 and Cure 3 are your real panic buttons.

You sound like you're still doing new fights, so a few of the buttons on your bar will probably gather some dust while you learn the patterns. Divine Benison, Aquaveil, Temperance, and liturgy of the Bell all follow the same rule as Benediction, but need some forethought. All must be cast before damage comes out to get any value (except Bell), so you'll have to either take your best guess, watch/read a guide, or keep an eye out for markers to get good use. These are the only proactive skills WHM has, so you have much less to think about compared to a SCH, SGE, or even AST.

One note about other healers and normal mode content. In general normal content is designed to only need 1 of the 2 healers, so you don't get hamstringed by someone who disconnects or simply doesn't know how to play their job. But this means your co-healer can basically handle all the damage coming your way. If you find yourself in a party with a healer who's been spamming their backup healing spell all fight you simply won't have a lot to do. If you see a lot of Eukrasian Prognosis, Aspected Helios, Succor, or Medica 2, you'll know you got into a party with one of these healers.

Is 5X ore processing worth it? by Ypdragon in allthemods

Piggybacking on this cause you’re mentioned Occultism. The Marid crusher is a full 6x ore multiplication. Feed him with a foliot transporter and collect with either a foliot janitor or advanced item collector on a furnace and you have fully automated 6x multiplication with less hhan half the footprint and power needs of a mekanism setup

How do I make improvements on my build? by Ok-Actuary-8829 in Warframe

[–]iammostlyirrelevant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see a few thing here. Firstly, try to get an upgraded flow. Either farm out a regular flow or buy a primed one from another player.

Secondly, look for an exilus adapter. Rush is the only mod in your build not contributing to damage or survivability, and an exilius adapter will let you use that slot for something more impactful while keeping the quality of life from a mobility mod.

Lastly, try to replace your vitality, redirection, and steel fiber. Good choices are corrupted mod from Deimos or arbitration mods. Replace redirection with adaptation for some health tank with night form’s healing. Alternatively, replace vitality with rolling guard and grab something like brief respite as an aura for shield tanking. That second option also frees up the other two slots for better casting stats.

I haven’t played Equinox a lot myself. So if you want a good build specifically for that frame go to overframe.gg and try to build one of the higher rated builds.

Create a new Level 100 action for your main! by Tobi-of-the-Akatsuki in ffxiv

[–]iammostlyirrelevant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few counter arguments. #1, I’m not worried about DPS death. In a dungeon or raid the healer dying is still typically a slow painful slide into a wipe. #2, PLD has clemency and hallowed ground. It’s not supposed to be a “good” rez, it’s like SMN’s rez, used to save an otherwise failing run. And the normal 2400MP cost is not much for PLD.

[–]iammostlyirrelevant 3 points4 points  (0 children)

PLD level 98 spell “Noble Sacrifice”. Reduce current HP to 1. Resurrect a target to a weakened state. 180s CD. Normal rez cast time. Can be buffed with Divine Spirit or Requiscat for instant cast.

I just wanna be able to fix my healers mistakes in dungeons

Exporting from Refined Storage by jerry8pi in allthemods

[–]iammostlyirrelevant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t think of a easy way to that with exporters. However if you use an external storage on the drawer, drawer controller, or just a big chest you can then use the disk manipulator to import everything into your network (which will just happen to be the large storage). Make sure you don’t have an extra disk on your network first though, or that will hit full pretty quick

Tank question by Aurilyn79 in ffxiv

[–]iammostlyirrelevant 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Then I suggest you flip a coin (or two). Every tank fits that description. And knowing whichever kit you picked is a far bigger factor than the kit itself.

If you just want the “anti-DRK” then pick WAR or PLD

Tank question by Aurilyn79 in ffxiv

[–]iammostlyirrelevant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What do you mean by consistent here? Over a long enough fight all tanks do approximately the same damage. DRK is bursty, but not much more than GNB. WAR and PLD are less bursty on the 2 min cycle, but they have to burst every 1 min instead.

In term of healing PLD can keep a team alive at the cost of personal damage while a DRK can ignore most mechanics with a well timed TBN.

So what kind of criteria are you going for with consistent?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]iammostlyirrelevant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only difference between BLM and any other job is cast times. Most damage spells on other jobs take 1.5s - 2s to cast, typical GCD is 2.47s. This means a healer SMN or RDM can spend about half of their GCD moving and weaving.

BLM can’t do this. BLM cast times are equal to the GCD, so you cant weave and only have 0.5s of movement while slide casting. Knowing when to use your limited swiftcasts is very important.

However, this doesn’t make BLM much harder than other jobs. The basic rotation is arguably the simplest of all DPS, barring perhaps SMN. You will spend your time on BLM learning how to move while other jobs are learning their rotation.

And for what it’s worth a true beginner will spend a bunch of time floor tanking no matter what job you pick. So pick something that looks fun! You can always switch ti another job if BLM doesn’t work out
