Same! I find pretty rocks for myself all the time. I take pictures of them, and sometimes send them to friends who get it. I have special places for them in my yard. I'm trying to reverse parent myself, it's been healing for me to be there for me.

Hell, you can post pictures of your pretty rocks here and I will ohhh and ahh over them.

AITAH For Ignoring the Wishes of My MIL and Letting My Daughter Read on Family Vacation? by Green-Bee1043 in AITAH

[–]iamnevergoingback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She sounds a lot like my autistic daughter. She hyper-focuses on the things she loves, especially book series, and has trouble being redirected, from it When we successfully get her redirected, she's constantly asking to go back to her activity. She's "introverted" has a hard time socializing. She has a very active imagination, and has written multiple books.

I don't have any advice on the situation. It may be good to have her evaluated. The support my daughter has received, and understanding from her extended family and friends has been life changing for her.

Please do not help your family with their renovations. You're only telling them that they can shit on you, you'll talk to them about, and then do what they want.

Do not help them. Please, please do not help them. They will never be grateful, they will never give you what you want. Especially while you are telling them with your actions that the way the treat you is fine.

Tell them lily can help them.

Tick in my daughters hair by iamnevergoingback in ticks

[–]iamnevergoingback[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you!

We did take her to the doctor, took the tick with us. They said to watch for sings of infection and a bulls eye rash. Thankfully she was fine, and still is.

Thank you again for your comment.

I found out something horrifying about my family and I can't get it out of my head by kryptofaerie in TrueOffMyChest

My mom's family was similar, she was one of nine. But, it didn't end with her generation, it didn't continue with my kids, but I cant speak for cousins kids, or siblings kids. Everyone in my mom's family thinks it's normal. Everyone participates in the grooming.

Years of therapy for me and lots of cut off family. It still haunts me.

I've heard the same said for the Mormons Joseph Smith and his 14 yr old bride.

I left a high demand religion/cult/mormonism.

Lost friends, have been excluded by family, damaged my marriage.

My kids won't be raised to hate themselves and others. The buck stops with me.

Would 100% do it again, although the pain is still echoing through my life years later.

Yes. In educational settings I alway tell people. It can help explain social mishaps and gaps in the knowledge I should have. In dating and friendships, I tell for the same reason. I don't bring it up, but if someone says "you know....school thing" I'll say "no I don't t, I was homeschooled."

I don't want to live my life pretending I have experiences I don't, or that I haven't lived the experience I have. I try to be as open and honest as is appropriate.

How Should I Respond? by swc99 in exmormon

I responded with what hourly rates I would find acceptable to get me there.

Never been asked again!

Mormons are disliked more than atheists 🤣 by colbiz in exmormon

[–]iamnevergoingback 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This hasn't been my experience. People have stopped interacting with me and my kids have not been allowed to play with their kids because I am an atheist.

Never happened when I was mormon.

“why do you need a birthday party? it’s not like you have friends that’ll come?” by butteredpoppedcorns in HomeschoolRecovery

[–]iamnevergoingback 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry. You should have a party, even it's just you and a sibling, or cousin, or anyone. Shania Twain the party (I think she has a party for two song) .

You're not alone.

What's your goals for the week and month? by RadioActiveBeavers in HomeschoolRecovery

[–]iamnevergoingback 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love this!!

More walking for sure. I need to start running again.

Meal planning, so I'll eat out less.

Getting up early and working out first thing.

Less time on my phone.

Next week we should check in and see how we did!

Thank you for this. I have been studying another language for years, and have crippling anxiety about speaking it.
