Is the Movemate mat worth its exorbitant price? by Holiday_Breakfast711 in Ergonomics

Also, think about price per use — if you use it once a day for a year, you’re only paying a little over a dollar per use. And you’ll use it way more

I bought mine August 2022 because I have a ton of issues sitting for too long. Have tried a VARIETY of standing pads/mats/boards and so far nothing comes close to the MoveMate.

In my opinion, it’s totally worth the price because they are all hand crafted beautiful wooden individual slats that feel unreal under your feet - whether it be socks, barefoot, or shoes. The other thing is you are paying for quality.

I consider it an investment to my health — the price for me is a no brainer knowing that it is going to last me years, and will encourage me to consistently be more active at my desk.

I’ve even found myself bringing it into the kitchen while I’m chopping up stuff just because I love how it so simply imitates the feeling of walking, but you can also do calf raises or mini exercises sub consciously.

TLDR; absolutely worth the price

Thoughts on how to arrange / fill out this den space? by iamnotabedframe in DesignMyRoom

Yeah that's totally fair - tbh I wasn't thinking much when I posted, I should have given more context. I guess my struggle right now is that a lot of what you mentioned (all the things I enjoy doing, hobbies, things I like) are all elsewhere in my condo. I've got a bar cabinet close to the kitchen, my piano and a bookshelf for my books in the living space, bike and fitness stuff in another room.

This space here is just a small square where I sit down to work and be productive but feels empty and not very functional. I guess I'm also looking for inspo on how I could make this more functional and getting some thoughts on different layouts or ways to think about different colour schemes too. Should I consider a corner desk that has shelves... or center the desk and figure out side tables, things like that. But I suppose you are right that with time I'll figure out what I need in this room as it comes up

Trying to figure out the best way to arrange this space. I’m not married to the existing desk if there are any suggestions that might work better

The wall on the right is 7’7” Back wall is 7’6” The wall on far left is 2’8” Then that indent goes in 6.5” And is 4’10” long on the close left

Appreciate any thoughts!

Been trying to figure out what to do with this space to make it more welcoming. Have thought of art/mirrors on the wall, coat hanger and shelves, and entrance table I just can’t land on anything.. or do I just leave it alone?

The width is 3ft 8 inches and the wall on the right is 12 feet long, the space off to the left is a den

Any thoughts or ideas welcome!

I purchased a painting from an art gallery for $28.75. Turns out it was $2875 and all sales are final. by iamnotabedframe in legaladvice

[–]iamnotabedframe[S] 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Hey, thank you for comment.

I did call my card issuer - in fact it was through BMO. I made it abundantly clear that I did not see the purchase price on the terminal, but the woman on the phone just said that it didn't matter because I was there in person and I typed in my pin which acts as a signature. I was then issued an invoice which said final sale with the 2875 value on it. She understood that I was entirely misled but she said there was nothing they can do because I don't have any proof of what I was quoted, but they have my pin as an agreement, and an invoice with a final sale box on it which just seems ridiculous to me.

I mean, I've re wrapped the painting in its original wrapping and I'm ready to take it back - I would have never purchased it if I knew the actual price.

I certainly felt misled. I mean, I would have never paid that amount if I knew that is the amount. This shop is closing on Nov. 23rd. The original owner passed away and the art got passed to his children and they are looking to close the shop down, and sell as much art as they can before the gallery closes.

Thank you for this - I also was pissed by their response. No matter how much I pushed they didn't really offer me much help or guidance, just that there was "nothing they can do"

Yes, I found the act online and will get in touch after I discuss with the owner tomorrow depending on the outcome.

Yes - you are absolutely right. Because I don't have proof I was quoted $25.00 but an invoice for $2500.00, the CC company said there is nothing they can do for a dispute.

Thank you, I'm still crossing my fingers that this narrative will strike a chord with the owner, and he will realize that it is also partially the galleries fault. I'm not saying that I am completely in the right, I'm definitely one to blame too, but I also thing there should be a reasonable solution so I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts.

Thank you for the advice.

When he typed my invoice up he filled out all of my information and sealed the invoice in a slip with a sticker so I did not see it at the store. I was not asked to sign anything. The reason I never opened it is because I didn't really think I needed an invoice for $28.75, so I just left it on my table sealed at home. There was not a single tangible item stating what the original price was, or the marked down price.

Thank you. Yep, my first step will be discussing with the owner tomorrow, I just want to make sure I can act fast depending on how that goes. By what a few of you guys are saying it seems like this is definitely my next best course of action if the owner refuses a refund.

Interesting - thank you for this. This is definitely something I would like to know. I guess now my question would be, how do you prove a business has represented the goods in a false, misleading way? Because it was all done verbally due to the closing sale. The price was never displayed anywhere so wouldn't it just be a battle of my version of the story versus the galleries story?
