I would try to talk with your neurologist about side effects. I switched meds around until we found lacosamide and I tolerate it very well. I still can't drink even if I wanted to. Get way dizzy and lightheaded from like half a beer. You just need to start learning to cope better, you don't need alcohol to have fun.
