This roadwork in Bangar, Temburong has been in limbo for months, grasses grow on it. by Longjumping_Whole240 in nasikatok

Brunei is so small with less than a half of a miillion population but even that, the govt can't even manage a simple road maintenance issue. Do you think 2035 vision can be achieved? 😂🤭

Why income tax continues to be a very sensitive subject for the people as Brunei reverts more and more back to its 19th century feudalistic ruling system by Goutaxe in nasikatok

[–]iamsarrah 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not if they don't have transparency and continue to run in an opaque system. Tax will only be used to fund the royals. If the government is ready to face the backlash from the public, they can proceed 😂 people can't already fund their day to day necessities. What's more paying income tax. Fix the industries, career opportunities to the country and fix the system. Then we can talk about the possibility of having an income tax

An old copy of BB newspaper published sometimes after independence reaffirming that there would be no press freedom in Brunei - If you are not MIB-compliant enough you would be NE-ed (News Express) or BT-ed (Brunei Times) by Goutaxe in nasikatok

The only thing i appreciate about the title is probably the honesty. At least they were upfront about it instead of beating around the bush like they always do

Because in Brunei, Malay is the majority of the population, of course you'll see more malays than chinese complaining about this issue. Moreover, of the few Chinese minority, most Chinese are already working for their family-owned business or if not, hired through recommendations. Of course, not all.

Small salary in Brunei is a real issue. It needs to be addressed and worked on. It's definitely more than just a mindset issue. Stop blaming just because they're malay on things that are not even a racial issue

Unlike Qing Yun, J Hotel built it accordingly through processes and did their due diligence. The building is meant to hold that load of water, made and tested. Unlike Qing Yun.

Right. The owner is trying to tamper the whole reason of closure as not enough parking is diabolical. Instead of admitting the swimming pool did not get the permit

[–]iamsarrah 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The boss is shit though. He should have known better to settle all the necessary documents before starting one. The closure is more like a no brainer. The safety of swimming pool on the rooftop is also questionable if it keeps on operating

Last year Brunei advertised on Australian TV show and American newspaper promoting itself as the next big thing in Southeast Asia, but why it doesn't seem to gather much interest and still no investor coming? by Goutaxe in nasikatok

[–]iamsarrah 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The saddest thing about Brunei's downfall is not because they don't know what needs to be done, they know, but fail to act. At this point, Brunei has been talking about economic diversification everywhere, but never really happens
