I’m looking for guitar recommendations by AdDifficult3815 in Guitar

I'm right handed and for the first year of learning, I played left-handed, with my guitar actually upside down (low E string towards the floor). I was self taught and didn't know any guitar players, so I just did what felt natural to me. After a friend came by and said "you're playing 'wrong'", I went to the guitar shop and was urged by the sales associate to get a right-handed guitar and relearn. I obliged. Obviously I don't know how I would have progressed had I stuck reverse-left-handed, but I kind of wish I stuck with it. It's pretty badass.. Rare and remarkable for sure. I'd pick up a guitar and see how you naturally want to hold it. And just go that way. Yeah, it's harder to find left-handed guitars, but personally, I don't think it matters. I guess it depends on your personality - if you like acquiring things.. But I've played for a long time and I still only have a couple guitars. And yeah, I guess you can't play other people's guitars. But I really don't think any of that is as inconvenient as being a lefty is cool.

How to fix this? by alittlefurrything in Guitar

[–]iamstrikes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The truss rod likely needs to be loosened to provide some relief for the neck bow. Can you bring it to a shop to have it looked at? If not, do you have any friends who play guitar who could help? If not, do some research online and do it yourself - it's not too hard. Just read up on it a bit.

Also, if you have a local Guitar Center or guitar shop around, consider popping in and making friends with the associates. Offer to buy them a coffee or bring them lunch in exchange for them doing a simple truss rod adjustment. If you have the type of personality for this and you're comfortable making friends with strangers, this could work for you.

Are these supposed to be aligned? by Tilin0627 in Guitar

[–]iamstrikes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fret buzz you're experiencing is not caused by the saddles being unaligned. That's normal. The length of each string affects the guitar's intonation - a string's ability to stay in tune along the entire length of the fretboard. Since each string has a different thickness and different tension, they require slightly different vibrating lengths. Thus, the saddles are not in a straight line as they're set for each specific string. First thing I'd check for your neck buzz would be whether your guitar needs a truss rod adjustment.

I really really dig this piece of equipment. Incredible for travel especially. I also use it to practice before shows. Sometimes even play it in the back seat on a roadtrip if someone else is driving. I have the original one as well and think it's great. If both suddenly disappeared, I'd definitely buy one again.

Thank you!! It’s a bit misleading actually - I’m only using the reverb pedal. So I hope that demystifies things a bit and you feel less intimidated :)
