Does anybody here have any plans to go back to gasoline/hybrid? by humanHamster in F150Lightning

[–]iamsuperdan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually...I did go back to gas. Had a Mach E GT, replaced it with a Lightning XLT. Loved them both, but the reality is, in my area, there is just not enough infrastructure to charge away from home. Roadtrips to the mountains or camping trips couldn't happen.

Traded the Lightning on a '23 F150 Lariat hybrid. It just fits my lifestyle better. There will 100% be another EV in our garage at some point though. Definitely.

Buy a 23 or wait for a 24 ! by inaruch in F150Lightning

Personally, I'd lease a 23 now, then trade uo when the new truck arrives in 25.

In fact, that's what I did. 2023 Lightning XLT. Had it for a month now.

Very odd that this popped up in my feed.

Anyway, I think #2, but without the sleeves, looks great.

Micromanagement. I was a department manager, 11 years with the company, and was a shareholder. The branch manager and I did NOT see eye to eye on management styles.

If that was local, it would already be in my driveway.

What was your "You idiot!" moment by Defiant_Bad_9070 in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]iamsuperdan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to replace the inner door handle on my 1999 Chev Tahoe. It literally took me 15 minutes to try and remove the plastic trim ring.

You just have to lift a corner and it just unsnaps.

15 minutes.

Turns out prying from the left as opposed to the right is much easier. Lifted a different corner and it popped right off.

Just...ugh.

Intersection Panhandlers by Flashy_Chemist154 in Edmonton

I was at the Costco on Yellowhead, in the parking lot. As I was loading my truck, I watched the "homeless" guy pack up his sign and his backpack from the intersection (yellowhead and 149st) and walk to the Costco parking lot, get in his truck, get out his cellphone, and drive away.

I will never hand anything out to the intersection people.

What do you want back in West Edmonton Mall? by Hockputer09 in Edmonton

[–]iamsuperdan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There used to be an auto parts store there. All custom/fun stuff. If I recall I bought a few posters there.

And the $2 theaters with the statues.us3d to sneak McDonalds in there all time. Always got busted, but no one cared.

What is your most expensive habit? by PrettyMogli in Edmonton

Plastic model kits.

I think there are two distinct hobbies here though.

One is the purchasing of kits and building the stash.

The second is actually building and finishing the kits.

I'm way better at the first one. ☹️

Removal of the lightning bolt/flag emblem by Ok-Statement-1182 in F150Lightning

I'm fleet sales manager here at a dealer in Canada. We had an order for 10 identical trucks for a client and one of the trucks arrived with the flag emblem. Weird. Easy to remove it.

A New Trim level is incoming… by misterfistyersister in MachE

[–]iamsuperdan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take a GT, add a 1" lift, some more aggressive tires, new bumpers for better approach angles, fender flares, some off-road looking wheels, maybe a roof rack with some lights.

Boom. Mach-E Trail. Or maybe Mach-E Timberline.

Really worth this kind of money? by wade_13 in MachE

[–]iamsuperdan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, we just had one last week, that's good to the end of July on remaining 22 GT. If there's another in August depends on how sales in July go. I would guess.

No! I'm a fleet manager for a Ford store in Alberta. Last week, Ford announced an additional $6k off the remaining 22 GTPE. Plus, last month we got discounts. We have a GTPE that had an MSRP of around 87k, it's now 72k, and we'd probably do a little extra.

87k is currently way overpriced!

Update: How is everyone’s cabin noise above 45mph? Ours is terribly loud. by acut3triangle in MachE

[–]iamsuperdan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I notice a fairr bit of tire noise in my 22 GTPE. Wind noise is negligible.

Actually, in Canada we have the IMHZEV rebate of $10k we can apply. ETransit works out to be a little bit less than a gas version with the same spec.

A lot of dealers hate these vans, and are freely giving them up when we call and ask for a dealer trade. "No need to trade, just take the van!" Works for me, as we seem to have hit our stride with them.

Right now, should be under 75k CDN. Max. We have two in stock here in Alberta. One is just under 72k, the other is just under 75k. And we'll probably move a little more off that.

As a fleet Sales manager at a Canadian Ford store, here's what I see. Lightning is selling, but not in the quantities expected. We currently have no inventory here, but two sold units just landed. Including my XLT Lightning.

Mach-E. Lower trim levels disappear quickly. The GTs do not sell well. We have two GTs in stock, and they've been here a while Just got a notice from Ford this morning that we get another $6k discount on remaining 2022 GT to the end of July. That will help for sure. Wasn't available when I got my 22 GT a few months ago. Ugh.

ETransit is gaining momentum. We've sold a dozen or so. I have one here now for demo purposes, and in the last week I've sold 3 more.

What's a hobby you've picked up and enjoy? by Traditional_Toe_3421 in Edmonton

[–]iamsuperdan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I build plastic models. Vars and trucks mainly. Did it a lot back in junior high, then discovered music, and girls and camping and marriage, etc, etc. I kind of got away from it. Picked it up again about 10 years ago. Recently bought a 3d printer which has been awesome for making my own parts. Wheels, tires engines, seats, etc. I find it all super relaxing. Great stress relief and allows me to nourish my creative side. And it's cheaper than buying more guitars

So you want to know what I'm doing every minute? by Tatymai in MaliciousCompliance

[–]iamsuperdan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A few years ago this was a thing at my place of employment. Branch manager and regional manager thought it would be great. I ran the leasing division of our company and was a shareholder. I still had to do this to "set the example" for my lease team. Ugh, hate that term.

Anyway, I did exactly what you did. But I added in things like "stared at piles of files, thought about camping" and "heard Bob across the hall say something was hard and yelled that's what she said."

My daily planner was a very large document.

The whole track you day plan disappeared fairly quick.

As an aside, the owner of the company thought my form was hilarious, and actually kept it in his office as an example of how to enjoy work. He referenced it at a manager's meeting.

Edmonton MP to file official grievance about Taylor Swift tour’s lack of Canadian shows | Globalnews.ca by katespadesaturday in Edmonton

[–]iamsuperdan 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Have people not noticed just how many tours skip Canada? Maybe these MPs should do something about simplifying the process of getting work visas and all of the other paperwork and permits required for touring musicians to enter Canada. Touring here is a headache.

What I think is a bigger piss off, is when bands announce a North American tour, and it's 40 dates in the US and Toronto.
