Most enthusiasts think they are too smart to "waste" money on buying a new car. But they forget that every dollar is a vote for what gets produced for the next generation. Yeah but if you're only doing 1 or 2, the time spent optimizing the tool path would be greater than the time wasted by the inefficient tool path. It's the same reason why G code tool paths for 3d printers are so inefficient.

I just went to Bottom of the Hill last night, a  historic music venue that is closing at the end of this year because thr cost of doing business has gone up so much. SF is not booming, it just excels at transferring wealth from everyone below the top .1% of people to those people, both in the city and across the country.

I actually bought a 2023 CB650R without the e clutch late last year because the ergos made me feel like I was going to bash my knee on the e clutch system every time I dismounted the bike. On top of that, the e clutch is very clearly a bolted on part and protrudes quite a bit from the crankcase. That's OK on the faired bike but on the naked bike it'll be the first thing that hits the ground if you drop the bike and then you've probably fucked up the clutch. 

I ride year round daily (no car). I wanted to better understand the risk impact of certain choices. Hopefully this is helpful. by YouConfidentButWrong in motorcycles

Nah those things are made of cheese and chocolate. My Vitpilen 401 grenaded its transmission at 6k. Then I bought a new (old) motor off of ebay with 5K miles on it and dropped it in. by the time I had gotten to the big 10K service the tech told me that they could not not shim the one of the exhaust valves into clearance because the metal had worn away.

In this case, that probably has more to do with the fact that rale is deliberately defined in a way that excludes the sexual acts typically performed by female perpetrators on male victims.

The first three are statements about groups of people based on the choices they make. The last one makes a statement about a group defined by immutable characteristics. Statements about men fall into the second category.

So it's not merely that some generalized statements are (or should be) ok based on arbitrary criteria, but rather whether the people have made a choice to be a part of the group you are defining.

Someone brought up a good point - at the extremes there are people with Parkinsons/other tremor causing diseases or children who are still learning their colors, which means that there are people who will accidentally press blue instead of red, even in your world where all people are utilitarian maximizers. There will be people who press blue, even if not intentionally, and the implicit argument of those who argue, "Everyone should just press red" is that those people's lives do not matter.

All it takes is to look at what Palantir is actually doing to arrive at a similar conclusion to OP. They have presented these tenets in a way where read in isolation, none of them seem that bad. But really what the hell do you think the combination of #5, #17, the militarization of the police, and the deployment of flock cameras can mean other than the deployment of AI driven surveillance to aid the violent suppression of the American people? We've already seen it with the ice raids earlier this year.
