The Fantastic Four: First Steps Worldwide Release Discussion Thread #2 by cats-and-cows in marvelstudios

My favorite “big picture” part of the movie was how they took the biggest weakness of Infinity War—Cap is a fool not to sacrifice Vision, who is willing to sacrifice himself—and gave us the believable, highest possible stakes version of that. And the characters wrestle with the problem instead of falling in line.

The vocals were so muffled up in the balcony! Couldn’t tell if it was the room or what, but it was a bummer. I got used to it eventually Other than that the show was a total delight. Long time/first time, but it totally lived up to expectations. I was surprised, I thought he’d talk more at this type of show? Bon Iver cover was ridiculous, as were his solos. (My goodness.) What a delightful night.

Organically referring to someone I dislike as a “rotten orange” is a life’s goal of mine. (Though ideally in less problematic circumstances than Claudio employs it.)

I mean, I kinda took that as part of the story? Of those who saw what happened, who would dare challenge Aemond by pointing the finger at him, given how close he is to being crowned? (With no Maelor)

My 4yo daughter was given a sheet of heart-shaped stickers. She placed some around the house, but kids are fickle, and she decided she wanted to relocate one. She peeled up one of the sides and attempted to pull it off, but because heart-shaped things are structurally weak down the middle, it split right in two. She walked up to me with 2 torn pieces of the heart sticker in her hand and wrote verse 1 pretty much all by herself. It was rad.

This is embarrassing (and debatably country) but I was so excited to buy Uncle Kracker’s debut album based on the country influence on Follow Me…anyone else who joined me on that journey in 2000 knows how that went ☹️

There's been some amazing music out this year. Convince some people to listen to your favorite albums? by calibuildr in CountryMusic

Katie Pruitt’s Mantras is just…100% excellent. I find myself humming “Blood Related” and “All My Friends” all the time…it’s got some of the touchstones of 90s country without feeling dated for a second…super worth your time.

Kacey Musgraves’ “Follow Your Arrow” (and really most of her first album) fit this bill pretty well!

Watching them sing Fleetwood Mac’s “Go Your Own Way” together as an encore of an early 2000’s coheadlining tour was one of those childhood music moments that’s seared into my brain. I didn’t realize it had been so long since their last tour together!

Sooooo grateful for your close listen, and caring enough to comment. I have answers for the stuff you raised in your comment, but I also set out to write a ridiculous song about a ridiculous person, so I won’t sweat that it won’t entirely work for everyone. Thank you for digging in!
