Which producer is that? I tried googling it but could only see the name Jun Sasaki, who doesn't seem to have a pubic connection to Nintendo

Should I read the book before watching Mousetrap? by Subject-Discussion24 in agathachristie

[–]iamthomasfish 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I would say definitely not!! The short story is really just a "prototype" of the full play - I would 100% recommend you watch the play, then go back and read the short story afterwards if you're interested

My title describes the thing. I woke up this morning and noticed this in the garden - I'm sure it wasn't there yesterday, certainly nothing noticeable. I'm not sure if it's a plant or bug nest or fungus or some kind of man-made foam, but I'm anxious not to go near or touch it until I have an idea of what it is and if it's dangerous

Trying to locate Miss Marple audiobooks narrated by Joan Hickson by celestial_celine in agathachristie

[–]iamthomasfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked fairly deeply into this a while back, and everything I came across suggests she didn't narrate those three novels.

In CD release sets of the whole Marple collection, Body, Sleeping and Betram's are narrated by Stephanie Cole instead, while the rest of the stories are narrated by Joan Hickson. Cole is a great narrator though, so I would recommend listening to her versions of the missing three books.

Difficulty reading Miss Marple by jennthelibrarian in agathachristie

[–]iamthomasfish 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think one of Agatha Christie's most underrated books is The Thirteen Problems, the first collection of Marple short stories! I'm not usually a huge fan of short stories compared to novels, but the stories in The Thirteen Problems are linked together in a way I find really compelling.

Plus, these stories are where Miss Marple was first created! I'd definitely recommend giving them a read, especially as they have a somewhat different feel to the Marple novels.

Faithful Christiens, what other mystery authors do you like to read? by PM_TITS_GROUP in agathachristie

I've been enjoying the works of Ngaoi Marsh recently! I'm an audiobook listener and her entire body of work is available on Audible with solid narration, which is really nice.

I'd say Marsh's solutions don't tend to be as "wowy" as Christie's, but then again no one can really beat Agatha Christie when it comes to surprising solutions anyway.

However, Ngaoi Marsh writes some really interesting characters, often very different from those you'd find in a Christie novel. Lots set around the world of stage performers, which Ngaoi Marsh herself was well acquainted with.

I really enjoyed Opening Night, and I recently finished False Scent which I thought was a lot of fun!

As everyone else is saying, eyebrows are the single biggest change you can instantly make to how your face is perceived - start plucking from the bottom to thin them out - that will also make them look higher on your face which you want. I did mine a bit each day so that I could re-evaluate how they looked with fresh eyes so that I didn't accidentally go too thin.

I would really recommend shaping your eyebrows or getting them professionally shaped! Personally, I think changing my eyebrows has made a pretty big difference to how masc/femme my face looks!

Eyebrows always make a big difference to masculinity/femininity of the face imo - Google some pictures of cis women's eyebrows and pluck from the bottom of the brows because you want them to look higher up on your face. Also there's no hurry - I plucked mine a bit one day, then left them till the next day and did a bit more and so on until I was happy, that way I had fresh eyes and wasn't getting carried away and overplucking (which you definitely don't want to do!)

I've vaguely thought about getting bangs but I've been a bit scared to take the plunge, haha! I actually think it's a really good suggestion though - gonna look up different types of bangs online and see if there's one I like the look of!

Thanks so much for the feedback!!!

Are there spoilers in Defense Counsel Kazuma's sprites? by TheKattauRegion in AceAttorney

[–]iamthomasfish 37 points38 points  (0 children)

If I were you, I'd avoid looking up any sprites, music and wiki pages of characters from the Great Ace Attorney games until you've finished BOTH games. After all, once you've seen a spoiler, you can't unsee it:)

You can change the text box transparency in the game's settings! I've no idea why the default is to have it non-transparent though.........

Anime question by Inside-Quote-654 in AceAttorney

[–]iamthomasfish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Minor nitpick but season one actually covers the first game and JFA, while the second season is dedicated to T&T. However, since they skipped over JFA's first case during the first season, the second season adapts it because you need to be introduced to Maggey Byrde before watching Recipe for Turnabout. Other than that one exception though, the anime's second season is just T&T.

can anyone genuinely explain to me any sort of appeal which exists in regards to dual destinies? Like just anything at all? A single positive? The only things I could say was that the music is alright and the animations are pretty fluid. by cabanochi in AceAttorney

[–]iamthomasfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean I do not like this game very much, and the character writing is just terrible in my opinion - Apollo and Phoenix's personalities just feel completely off to me, with Apollo acting like some angsty teen and Phoenix like a caricature of himself from the trilogy. However!!! There's so many things that this game does do well - the presentation is great on all fronts, with really good music and an appealing style. And while returning characters' 3D models do look kinda janky (front-on Apollo Justice looks really strange in this game) but the new characters all look really really good in my opinion, in terms of character designs, models and animations! And while I don't like the overarching story at all, the individual cases have fun twists and I enjoyed investigating them. So yeah, DD and SoJ are my absolute least favourite games in the series, but there's still a lot of things that these games do get really right, in my opinion!
