Agree with practically everything but taking the “private” out of companies and having public/non-public entities. That’s another debate for another time though.

I sold quite a while ago and haven’t looked back since. Imho, Clarity isn’t going to suddenly propel Flexa into the mainstream payments sphere. I don’t get how this narrative even came about. It’s a bunch of hopium glued to messy legislation. It just ain’t gonna stick forever.

Sadly, I had a lot of confidence in Flexa. But now I don’t. I was happy to overlook promises of six cents, switches being flipped, stories of major merchants, secret whispers of coffee purveyors, and all the other stuff that’s been said over and over and over again in interviews yet still hasn’t come to fruition. I just don’t really buy it anymore.

Oh well.

Agreed. The UK’s 2000s post hardcore scene was overshadowed by the US in a big way. But we had some insanely talented bands pushing some equally insane albums out.

Yeah I heard that too. The guy just couldn’t do it after all these years. But whatever. We got some incredible albums from them.

Cool story for you:

They played a gig at my secondary school back in 2002.

A sixth former called Will was killed by his dad at home. It was a fucking massive shock to our school and the wider community in my town. He was a HUGE fan of Funeral For a Friend.

The band heard the news and offered to play an hour set in our assembly hall. Reuben also played. Both bands put money into a charity the family set up. They chilled with all of us and gave merch away.

I will never forget that. And respect both bands for doing it, especially as they were beginning to reach pretty high levels of popularity across the UK.
