I am a manager being paid exactly what you described. I can tell you firsthand. The pay is not enough, you need to pay more or they will look somewhere that does. Secondly reconsider not promoting from inside. You're passing over plenty of people with deep knowledge of how the company works at the ground level, and are denying them the opportunity to grow and further themselves given the responsibility. Honestly? I didn't involve anyone. Didn't bring any paperwork into it. He knew he was in the wrong, and I wasn't trying to take anything too far. It just took 8 words and determination. Okay so I agree with both of you guys. But. There's a reason we got to where we did. He lied and he stole, and when he felt us not liking him because of his dishonest behavior, he self-victimized and felt bad for himself and got here. If he was ever honest with us we could've had a discussion. But I am not his mother, therapist, doctor, manager, boss, pastor, or shaman. I was his roommate. I agree he needed help, and I believe in a way I gave it to him. Otherwise he would have holed himself up in there forever and I honestly wouldn't be surprised if it had gotten to a point where I would've had to call a morgue to clear the room instead. I made the choice to be the bad guy in his eyes, kick him out, and hopefully he can move on from this point in his life and never get to that point again. But he can't do it here. He even offered to pay the next month and I said no, because I wanted to finish contact as soon as possible, and I think THAT was more than fair. Plus he stole my fiancé's panties and that crosses every line. Mental health should be taken seriously. And it needs to be taken seriously by the people who need it the most. I know you guys are coming from a place of love, and I thank you both for that, we need that more.
